  1. Just completed a trade with JeffBwent smooth as silk, wouldl'nt hesistate to trade anytime,..........................................................Mark
  2. Not to hijack the thread,(beautiful Buick BTW!) but the front plate represents the Vietnam Service Ribbon (Vietnam Veteran) proud to see it displayed on all these builds!...............................................Mark
  3. That's a nice clean build! I hope mine comes out half as nice,it's out of the "purple pond" got some primer shot on it tonight,a little bodywork to re-do then back to the paint shop!......................................Mark
  4. I too have had good results with 1:1 pinstripe tape, method I use is for finer thin stripes is to apply it to a piece of glass, then use a straight-edge and x-acto knife to split the tape into smaller widths, takes some practice, but the results are worthwhile, and after applying to the galss, the tape is not so tacky, can be appied better and moved around more. I use a toothpick to burnish, and go around rivets and such, time consuming? yes,but works good for me!......................Mark
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with the others, some of the "vintage" AMT truck kits can test your patience and resolve for sure! test fit, test fit, test fit! and you will be pleased with the end result. Good reference material is also a must, because AMT's instructions can be vague at best. The Diamond Reo is one of the better kits for fit,but a good many suffer from the dreaded warped frame rails! a good jig, some clamps to keep everything straight and you should be fine....................Mark
  6. That's the kicker! paint came out reallynice,a little bummed, but we'll go back to the drawing board Lol!..................................Mark
  7. Well, had a major set-back with the Road Boss, all painted, ready for final assembly, went to apply the clearcoat when disaster struck! I dropped the cab/hood on the way in from painting (outside) so now it looks much like a "Krackel" candybar! with all the dirt stuck to it.Anyway, its in the "purple pond" as we speak,so i'll have to start over with the paint work................Such is modeling sometimes! Lol!.............................Mark
  8. That's a very nice truck! the conversion work is first rate! don't see many medium duty trucks modeled,i also like the color scheme.....................................Mark
  9. Very nice! as already stated,Mercury's were aftermarket sleepers that could be ordered to fit most any truck,They were built in California,so were more popular out west (Petes KW's Western Stars etc.) but ended up on most every make and model of truck produced. Vintage Mercury's command big bucks for those restoring 1:1 trucks these days,as they were well made and pretty neat looking too!................................Mark
  10. Nice work! The MPC DM-600 is in my opinion a VERY good representation of the 1:1 truck,Mack oversaw the development of both the DM-600 an 800 kits to guarantee accuracy and grant licensing............................Mark
  11. The older Detroits in Macks from the era this truck would represent would indeed be "Alpine Green" (The bluish-green you mentioned) Roadway did in fact use Detroits in Macks (very un-common) but abandoned the idea after the engines were proved to be problematic. Don't forget to add leaking oil detail on the engine! as they were notorious for leaking!..................................Mark
  12. Very nice work! as someone who spent 22 years leased to Atlas Van Lines, seen many similar 1:1 trucks Allied would be proud of this one! Lol! I have a friend who had a Kenworth Aerodyne/drom box leased on with us,really nice truck, long since gone! haven't seen many droms in model form.......................Mark
  13. Best thing I have found to replicate baby moon hubcaps on trucks are chrome furniture nails, pretty much just like the real thing, just nip off the nail part and epoxy in place! I got mine at the local Lowes...........................Mark
  14. That KW looks great! the paint job is very sharp,a nice neat paint scheme, truckin' for kids is certainly a worthwhile charity,i have participated in the Make-A-Wish convoy for 10 years running now................................Mark
  15. Some nice work! I remember seeing transfer dumps like that out in California in the eighties, big Pete dealer in Pico Rivera, CA had a similar C.O.E wrecker as well...........................................Mark
  16. Kinda hard to see,but here is an F-600 Series Mack C.O.E,you can see the steering shaft extended with the slip joint in the up or tilt position if you click on and enlarge the picture................................Mark
  17. Most trucks I've seen or driven used a universal joint under the cab, along with a "slip joint" to allow the cab to tilt........................................Mark
  18. No problem! we always called the 3208 the "Baby Cat" saw a good many L-Series Fords so equipped, toss up between those and the 238 Detroit..........................................Mark
  19. I forgot about Truck and Roll, they used to do a lot of sub-contract work for both Stagecall and Janco...........................................Mark
  20. A great kit to start with,as others have mentioned, built one MANY years ago,but have another on deck to build. The engine in question is a 3208 Caterrpillar,3406 is an in-line six cylinder..................................Mark
  21. Matt,Clark uses all Owner-Operators,so various makes and models,as does Stagecall, Upstaging uses red 386-387 and 379 Peterbilts,Janco has a mixed bag of Freightliners and Volvos (the Mack CX-613 pulling the Peter Pan trailer is me!)...........Mark
  22. There are 4 major trucking companies here in the states involved with touring shows..............My employer, Clark Transfer Inc. Harrisburg,PA the number one provider of Broadway show/theatrical transport in the country. Stagecall Inc. Phoenix,AZ,and Upstaging Transport Inc. Chicago,IL and Janco Inc. Wayne,NJ..........The last two primarily do Rock & Roll and major tours, while Janco's primary tour is the WWE Wrestling tours.......................Mark
  23. I have the old "Bearcats" TV show edition (glue bomb) I'd like to restore someday, just need a set of spoke wheels!............................Mark
  24. Nice! my next project will be a White-Freightliner C.O.E. replica of my dads 1:1,the Vanliner did make it into production and were REALLY popular with movers because of the added room/cabspace........................Mark
  25. Short wheelbase, floats up front,head-ache rack behind the cab, would be an awesome lowboy/heavy haul tractor! of course the set-back steer axle lends itself to a wrecker, dump or mixer chassis as well!..............................Mark
