  1. Or... this is what mine looked like before it was restored.......... I like 'em both !!!!
  2. Seems like you know your subject, research makes a good model and is part of the enjoyment of modeling. Very unique replica, I do like it !
  3. Caddy engine swap is a great idea, really separates your build from the pack. How 'bout some Olds or Sombrero caps ?
  4. A very handsome build ! Love the chassis inspection marks......
  5. I stand corrected, I posted this late at night and had a brain f#%t. Of course this is the AMT Bel Air.
  6. A very handsome build
  7. I see the Scandinavian enthusiasm for traditional hot rods carries over to models as well as full size rods. I've seen alot of very cool full size builds come out of your area, this is also a very cool build! I like the scale look of your detailing especially.
  8. I enjoyed building the 409 engine, the silver valve covers contrast with the Chevy orange block. It's a neat looking motor with the dual quads and "425" hp decals on the valve covers. Other than some engine detailing it's an out of the box build. Thanks for looking.
  9. Thanks for all the positive feed back , I appreciate it ! One thing nobody mentioned though are the drillings under the fin on the rear 3/4 view. When drilling the antenae hole some bone head ( me ! ) drilled thru the fin AND thru the fender , DOH ! He didn't even know until viewing the picture on line !
  10. Wish it was in my garage !
  11. Lots of creativity, well executed theme. I like the continental kit and the landau top trim.
  12. Check out moparsbymosher.com for some excellant info and detail photos of early wedge and hemi cars
  13. The mesh grill and Cragers are a nice touch.
  14. I believe I have improved my posting skills enough to present this model once more with better pictures. Once again it's the Revell Impala kit with the '57 Black Widow Fuelie motor and some changes to represent a Biscayne Utility sedan. Thanks for looking.
  15. Hi Joe, I worked at the Bradenton Florida Pierce Manf. Factory Referb Center a few years ago and watch a Bahamas islands Oshkosh ARFF stripped to the bare frame and rebuilt totally. The unit had been covered in salt water, what a mess! That thing is huge ! Your build brought back memories, the components are right on. Lots of thin sheet metal body panels ,piano hinges, and hydraulic lines. Their unit was repainted hi vis lime green. Looking forward to updates. Jon Davis
  16. I guess you could say it's "as cute as a bug".......LOL......
  17. Go to You tube "Highway Patrol Hot Rod" to watch this episode. Still would like to know if the car survived.....
  18. I'm in an old house in central Florida and my upstairs ( where I build ) air conditioning doesnt cut it in the summer months, except for early a.m. and rainy days. So I dont build as much as I'd like in the summer . But it was almost the same when I lived in Indiana because I chose to pursue as much outdoor activity in the summer due to the winters that were so long and crappy. I miss "snow days", hours and hours of building with the oldies station on and a hot cup of coffee.......
  19. The 32 ford I'm refering to was a one time episode, IMDB lists the individual shows so I suppose more info could be gathered there( Nov 19, 1956 "Hot Rod" episode 7, season 2 ). Early shows did include Olds 2 door sedans, and I did see a few Dodge D-500 sedans along with the Buick Centurys. The Buicks were factory hot rods I.E. -lightest body with big motor.
  20. Does anyone know the history and current where abouts of the 32 Ford lowboy featured on Highway patrol TV series of the mid 50's? The car had an Olds engine and Studebaker caps ( I think ).The show is currently in sindication again in my area, some really neat So. Cal slices of life from the 50's with cool cars too. Thanks J.D.
  21. Wonderful to see something unexpected, as much as I loved the McClarans, Lolas, Chapparrals, and shadows. Was not aware of this car. Thanks for posting it and a job well done!
  22. Built this for a club exchange when it came out. I'm not a big truck builder but I do like showroom stock and thats what I built. A nice kit, I added some wood overlay in the bed and a few fuel and brake lines to the chassis. The big block has it's smog equipment in place, like I said it's factory stock! Thanks for looking.
  23. I rebuilt this model several years ago from a 40 year old build. I can't recall the origin of the original kit but the opening suicide doors are a big clue, I did not add them. I think the plastic is molded in orange. The early hemi and wheel/tire combo are from the "Lil Coffin. Thanks for looking http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/jdcar32/Unknown%2032%20roadster/th_P5240179.jpg' alt='th_P5240179.jpg'>

    Cheetah

Very nicely done replica ! These cars were almost cartoonish in proportion, really wild. I actually worked on a genuine "continuation" Cheetah here in Sarasota. The chassis and body were made on the same jigs and fixtures as the original Bill Thomas cars of the early 60's. Even the street version I rode in was a bare bones race car, really rough around the edges, load, and hot ! The original shop in So. Cal. was destroyed by fire. Really nice to see your model.
