  1. Played around with Photobucket edit to give this build a little more "charactor". Didnt really change the basic build though. Seems like now more than ever how a model is presented in photograph has an impact on how people perceive it. I think my photo mods are in the spirit of traditional box art but I also realize there is potential for controversy such as the "removal" of paint flaws, etc.
  2. The complete chrome package comes with the kit, nice no seams or tree boogers. Contact Tom Hoover : promolite@aol.com . He has many unusual and seldom seen kits.
  3. I grind a chisel point on the tip of a #11 X-acto blade ( or you can use a dull throw away blade ) so it's not so fragile at the point , then scribe the panel lines . Resin actually scribes easily. Scribe each panel 90% through before you completely release any of the panels so you maintain as much strength as possible in the body. Take your time and remember mistakes are just a drop of C.A. away for repairs. Good luck!!
  4. This is one of Tom Hoovers excellant resin kits. The build will also use the AMT '58 Edsel for all detail items, both cars have the same wheelbase so the kit chassis fits wheel with only minor adjustments. The interior is another matter. ALOT of scratch building will take place for the doors, etc. I'm thinking 2 tone paint, poverty caps, the big 352 motor, and a 3 on the tree.
  5. I've used white latex house paint for painting whitewalls with good results. It is thick enough to cover well, a little wate can change the consistancy. As I recall it did not crack although I have painted the tires after installing on rims. The latex paint doesnt react with the vinyl like oil and laquer based paints can. Looks like you had fun with that Olds, what a unique addition to your collection.
  6. Nice, real nice !
  7. I'm quite sure pre-war flathead speed stuff was limited to that dual carb intake, at least what you could see. And maybe some type of homemade dual pipes. Put a "load dump" pipe under the rear bumper and use some truck type tires with a period correct look. Moon runners are neat cars, good luck!

  11. The paint needs to be right and it looks good, nice job. Jay Leno has one and I remember seeing one at my junior high school many moons ago. A recent issue of Hemmings Classic Car has a good article if anyone is interested.
  12. Great stance, I like the color/wood tone combo...
  13. NEVER saw one like it !!!!! Different is not always good, but this one manages good very ... good !

    Early A V-8

AMT's venerable Ford Model A Roadster kit lent most of the parts here, the early style Flatty is a generic AMT motor with heads intake modified. The doors open and theres a wood floor. These cars are really basic, this one even has original style model A mechanical brakes and friction shocks. Thanks for looking.
  15. Maybe I should get an agent................
  16. Granted there would be a lot of still shots. I like the model show idea. And showcase industry pioneers, model history, narrated tips and how to's. Shows like the old Shade Tree Mechanic have a car on a lift and they are working on it. A model car format would show a set of hands in action and stage by stage shots. I guess I'm visualizing " Model Car Magazine T.V.".
  17. Only being involved with this forum for 3 or 4 months I might have missed discussion of this subject in the past. The model railroaders and 1:1 guys have their shows. What about us diehard enthusiasts of all things small with rubber tires ? At least a segment of coverage attached to an existing car program. A lot of the collector car mags I read have model or diecast columns, why not television shows? T.V. guys may not be aware of the multi million dollar hobby they are ignoring. Gearz at least allows ( along with Revell ) a small portion of it's time touch on our hobby. Can someone in the hobby industry lobby for a show? What about Public television ? I'd love to hear your thoughts !!!
  18. Why can't the General re-capture the glory of their mid sixties styles such as this Poncho ? this build captures the beautiful lines of the car. The 8 lugs ARE the only choice for this car. For future referance one of the polishing cloth kits available are great for enhancing older paint. They follow curves, have multiple grits to 12,000 ! Money well spent. Very nice build!
  19. That must have been a hell of a hail storm!!! Nice job.......
  20. Working in metal looks like alot of fun for a change, I need to try it. Very inspirational build, beautiful.
  21. It warms my heart to see old plastic brought back to life, very neat rod !!
  22. Hope these shots help you. This an AMT '34 with the Monogram '32 5 window Hemi
  23. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love the "real" stock cars like this one. Nice to see a convertible racer too. Guys like Fred L., Fireball,Lee Pettty, Jr. J, they could drive anything with a steering wheel. It took guts to fly around Daytona at 140 in shirt sleeves and bias plys.
  24. Nice looking Duece ! It has an east coast flavor, channeled and not chopped.....
  25. Looks like it rained at LeMans, and maybe a few off road excursions took place as well !
