Scale I Build

  1. Finally finished this one. It's the Tamiya kit and I bought it about 5 years ago for $5 on Ebay. Body parts had been partially glued together, but no painting done on it. Luckily, after I got it stripped (without breaking anything) I discovered that everything was there. Yellow isn't my fav Porsche colour, but I went with a combo near and dear to my heart. I spend many years working for the local Porsche dealership. After I transferred to sales, the first factory order I took was a 2000 Porsche 996 coupe. Speed Yellow with black leather, 18" chrome Turbo alloys, sport exhaust, manual transmission, navigation, sunroof delete. When the car arrived, all orange reflectors were replaced with clear pieces. So this is my version of that car. The holes in the front bumper are intentional. In my province, we don't require front plates, so the when the new cars arrive, they arrive with two holes in the front bumper for mounting the plate holder. I think I did a decent job on the interior, but I'm not happy with my paint. The black trim bugs me. Having said that, I'm comfortable enough with it to call it done. As for photography, I think I need to start wiping everything with microfibre cloths or something, as there's dust all over this thing that wasn't visible when I was taking pics. Anyway, there it is.
  2. This is going to be a very long and drawn out build, as I don't have the time to build that I wish I had! Anyway, go easy on me. A little background on me; I've been a VW/Porsche/Audi nut since elementry school, and spent almost 15 years working for Porsche, so you'll see a number of Porsche kits coming from me. I finally got around to starting a kit that I've had sitting around for years. This is Tamiya's Porsche 996 Carrera kit. Curbside, no engine detail. I decided to build this in Speed Yellow with the black interior, a somewhat uncommon colour combo around here. I've started by spraying the interior pieces in black. This is an automotive semi-gloss black, can confirm brand later. Then I masked, laid down the white glue, and flocked it. Turned out pretty good I think. I've since touched up the spot on the passenger door. Not too exciting yet, more pics to come as I get working on this.
  3. Newly registered, I'd like to show some finished model kits during my model-builder-career First of all, I start with my two Porsche 944. The coupe I build as a Christmas gift of the kind of a modeling club. In the meantime it's tradition, to make a present to a big bag and everyone grabs one of it. Before the unwrapping starts, we chose a motto. Then it's the task to finish the build until the next year's Christmas meeting. So I grabbed the Porsche 944 and the motto was "yellow". I was happy with the motto and the car So her it is with a couple of pictures. Base of the model is the following kit: 1986 Porsche 944 S 1/24 Italerie #3659 A quite simple kit. I decided to let the hood closed because the engines compartment is not that awesomeness. You know. Painted it yellow and sealed with clear coat. All out of the spry can. I dechromed the rims and painted them with regular silver. I didn't like the chrome because they aren't chromed originally and it looks a little like a children's toy. The upholstery are self-made decals. Painted the window trim with airbrush, completed the rear wiper with a motor and two cables and that it in summary. Here the pictures....
  4. Thought I'd make a Workbench post of one of my more (for me) extreme builds. This started life as an Italeri Porsche 993 Convertible, bought with the intention of making the Japanese Porsche tuner Rauh Welt Begriff haven't done, a RWB Speedster! Now, there are transkits out there to make a RWB 993, but they are pricey and won't fit this kit, so what to do? You build it yourself of course! This is the kit I bought as the base. And to make the convertible body a Speedster body, I had to make a cover plate, so out came some modeling foam, which I sculpted to fit the body, using reference photos of the older and newer Speedster 911's. The 993 was never built from factory as a Speedster except for very few examples.
  5. Found this gluebomb in a local add among some other older kits, all more or less 80% complete. Of coarse the favorite item was the worst, this 1973 Porsche rally car from Fujimi. I think the older Porsche are cool cars, very simplistic and functional, and i guess you all are familiar with the Singer, wich is the inspiration for looks. I`m not going to write an essay on everything done, just ask if you have any questions. Here is the result.
  6. I'm torn between "this is cool" and "what is wrong with me!?" Nissan engine detail Mercedes engine detail
  7. I started these two models a few months back, but ran out of paint and took a break from them. I wasn't originally going to do a workbench thread since I'm pretty new to this and it won't be that interesting, but I'm bored and planning to get back to them soon so I thought what the heck, why not. As my second and third models I decided that I definitely had to have an F40 in my collection, and I also wanted to build another Porsche. The 993 GT2 was perfect. Guts of the F40 I plan on painting the body of the F40 white. I think it'll contrast nice with the black wheels and red seats. As you can see below both cars are basically in opposite stages of their build I apologize for the quality of the pictures, I'll post better ones once I've started on them again.
  8. I thought I would post it here to alert anyone who may be interested. HLJ announced Tamiya is doing a full kit of their 1/12 Porsche Carrera GT ...looks like this may be even better than the Enzo http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM12050 ...
  9. Well since I just joined this forum I thought I would share some of my builds here is one of my latest a Porsche GT2 road vesion.
  10. after watching the RWB videos i came to a realization that out of the 7 or 8 porsche kits ive bought not one is built. so when i got this one as a gift i decided it should be the first after all the 930 chassie cars are my all time favorites. not sure on color thinking red or orange the interior is gonna be black. the wheels came out of the parts bin the fuchs look too dated to be on it.
