chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Pictures when I get home. My first try at salt chipping. It's the AMT '75 Vega Kammback drag car. I lost the chassis or traded it, can't remember. I'll use one from what looks like the Monza dragster, but I'll have to shorten it, and add the front axle from Duster's Last Stand, another chassis that got stepped on. Plan is to use a blown Hemi with some cool carbs. The paint is Model Master Dark Green and hella rusty. Edited March 29, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Jantrix Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Why even bother posting this without pics? Why waste my time?
Greg Myers Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Why waste MY time complaining? No pictures? Move on.
slusher Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Will you finish it?? Those are not good name choices...
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 Yes, I am going to finish it. As I said, I'm going to put pictures on later, when I get home.
JollySipper Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 You could name it "ve-GO!" or how about "Mega Vega"..........
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 Sorry about the kinda crappy photos but here it is.
atomicholiday Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I don't have any ideas for a name, but that looks like a really cool project. Looking forward to seeing this one completed!
disabled modeler Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 How about maybe doing it in a diorama like its climbing out of a junkyard from the ground....Demon Vega?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) Sorry, guys. Been a while. Here's what I'm working with. Wheels/tires from some unknown funny car. Probably change out the rear slicks with AMT Goodyear Blue Streaks, but time will tell. The engine is from a Revell Super Bee, I think a 1969. Need to make headers for it. The frame is from a Monza dragster. It needs to be chopped a little, and I need a rear axle. Front axle will be provided from a Monogram Duster's Last Stand, the frame of which got stepped on. The front axle has springs on it, so that's one less thing to worry about. I'm still designing decals for the names. I like Snakey and KammNation. Edited March 22, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
mod3l Lover Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Maybe something like, . . Rustin' n Rollin' cause it's Rockin' da drag strip! David S.
Monty Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) I'm the furthest thing from an authority on drag cars but I thought most funny cars of the '70s had fiberglass bodies, so I'm puzzled by the rust. Nevertheless, here are a few suggestions. Since a rusty-bodied car with anything less than a Hemi would be unlikely to win its class: Rust Never Sweeps Given your determination to make something out of this kit: Rustoration Cheesy pun-related name based on body style Kammback Kid Seen somewhere in the real world: Vegadeath Edited March 24, 2015 by Monty
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Well, I suppose what I was thinking was a Kammback wagon that was found in a junkyard, then the body was pulled and dropped on a dragster frame.
Dragfreak Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Nice weathering, it looks just like how my 1:1 looked after I pulled it from the barn it had been siting in since '77. same color and all. I'll be following along! Edited March 24, 2015 by Dragfreak
darthsideous Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Repaint it green and call it "Vegan". I love it!
