57peppershaker Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm building a Revell Silverado pickup as a tow vehicle, using the stock rear bumper. Do any kits come with tow hitch & balls ? Or any resin available ? If not is there an easy way to make them ?
modelercarl Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Scenes Unlimited has a resin 1/25 scale bumper mount trailer hitch.
gtx6970 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 A lot of the MPC annuals had an under bumper trailer hitch in the kit I might have a couple of them ,,,
GLMFAA1 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I don't know what's in the re released rescue van but the chevy van kit had one. and early 70 MPC dodges had em, and the early 70 Impalas had it for the car trailer greg
Longbox55 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Some of the trailer kits also have hitches with them for the tow vehicle. Also, the AMT '55 and '57 Stepside kits have a hitch ball in them.
Toner283 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Add another vote for Scenes Unlimited. Danny's stuff is awesome. He makes a bumper hitch with 2 different dropped receivers and also a reese style chassis hitch with 2 different recievers as well. Both of them look very accurate and true to the real deal. Reasonably priced and Danny is great to deal with. He also makes the best fifth wheel hitch I have seen. Lots of other cool detail parts as well. http://www.scenesunltd.com/
randx0 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 you could also check out some of the 3d printing companies like Shapeways . some items are to pricy but some are inline with resin parts.
Art Anderson Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 It's been a few years, but I have made ball hitches using those small round-headed straight pins like you find in a new dress shirt--for the tongue, I've simply drilled a blind hole in a bit of strip styrene that would be the appropriate size. Inexpensive, and quite durable. Art
Kit Basher Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I've seen a hitch ball in some kit I have, I think it must be the Monogram F 250 Super Duty. The one that's like a 1989 or 90.
Foxer Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 B-N-L Resins has a ball hitch and mount .. think on the others page.
Art Anderson Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Revell's Kurtis Midget kits have a trailer hitch with ball, and the little race car trailer has the tongue! Art
Kris Morgan Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Scenes Unlimited is the only way to go a far as the hitch goes. Great quality and Danny is a super cool guy..
chunkypeanutbutter Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 You can make a convincing one in about five minutes with a Dremel-lathed piece of sprue. I can post a tutorial around 5pm if you need.
crazyjim Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 At least one person has posted on this forum about how to make a hitch. I think one of them was Nick Winter. You might to try a search of the forum.
Kit Basher Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 If you're talking about a receiver hitch, they're not real hard to make. This one is from various stryene shapes, some sheet aluminum, and some square brass tubing. If you want more info, just let me know.

Sixties Sam Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Here's one I did in 1/12 scale using a ball link from an R/C plane. Easy in that scale!
57peppershaker Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Sorry Gents not been on for a while due to long work hours. Thanks for all the replys. Those Scenes Unlimited hitches are real nice, but I think I'll go with some of your ideas & try & make one. Though I also have a stepside kit, so will have to have a look in there too.
