YBlock292 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I started to build this some days ago. It is a 1971 Plymouth GTX by Monogram. I painted the body in gold, using Tamiyas "gold" and "light sand metallic", trying to get close to the original exterior color "Golden Leaf Metallic". A pic of a original car:
Custom Mike Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Great job on the color Ludwig, are you going for a factory stock build?
10thumbs Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 That's a good color on that car! Are Rallye Wheels going on the car? Nice looking job so far. Michael
mustang1989 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 This'll be great!!! I used to have this car from back in my teenage years but it got destroyed in a move.
YBlock292 Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 UPDATE: I started to detail the body of the 71 GTX. For example I "installed" a spring which holds down the hood: At the underside of the hood it was necessary to drill out a little hole to accomodate the spring.
Mr mopar Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Looking good so far Ludwig! are you doing the car in the photo? If so Awesome.
YBlock292 Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Thank You, guys! Yes, I am trying to get close to that car shown in the photo!
YBlock292 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 UPDATE: MAY-15-2015 Meanwhile I have done most of the BMF-work on the car and have added a couple of decals:
10thumbs Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Hi Ludwig, the BMF work looks very good and the car appears to be making excellent progress.
426-Hemi Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 -Got this same model.....LOOKS GREAT man, LOVE the panel line work as well as the body paint! NICELY done! I plan to make mine a Satellite tho..... SO, I'll be removing the "GTX" lettering and looking for the correct grille insert for mine, as I'm making mine the Dukes of Hazard, car that Daisey got for a very short time! NICE work on yours thats inspiration to get me going on mine at some point!
mustang1989 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Looks like a really clean paint job and detail work there Ludwig!
Carolina Man Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 UPDATE: I started to detail the body of the 71 GTX. For example I "installed" a spring which holds down the hood: At the underside of the hood it was necessary to drill out a little hole to accomodate the spring. Will you be making a hood latch to go with the spring?
