Porscheman Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) I got this one from my friend John, who just loved the color green. I stripped the paint in purple power and primed the body with Tamiya's primer white. The blue accents was done using Tamiya's mica blue. I then clear coated the primer and blue with Testors wet look clear. The decals are from Firebird Designs and were also clear coated. This will be a curbside, since most of the engine is missing. I started this project 4 hours ago, so it'll be one of my fast movers. Thanks for looking. Al Edited May 23, 2015 by Porscheman
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) I well remember the '70 AMC Rebel "Machine". Neat factory hot rod, unusual to ever see one these days. Cool project. Edited May 21, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Custom Mike Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I'd love to get my hands on one of these kits...way too pricey for my tastes though! If you had the urge, you could get another engine from any Jo-Han AMC kit, all of their V-8's were the same physical size, regardless of cubic inches!

I'm really excited about this build. Like Mike said, the prices on these are way out of my league, but when your friend hands you one, it's like hitting the lottery. I'm not an engine guy, so this will be a curbside. Al Edited May 22, 2015 by Porscheman
Porscheman Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Another quick resto. I tinted the glass with 3 very light coats of Tamiya's clear blue. The interior was paint Tamiya's semi gloss black with silver accents. The tires are AMT parts pack. This is strickly a curbside, no engine. This one took me 3 days to complete, I hate these long builds. Thanks for looking. Al Edited May 24, 2015 by Porscheman
Custom Mike Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Beautiful work Al, now I really want one! I wish some company would make a new-tool version of this one, but I'm not holding my breath!
Porscheman Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 Thanks again guys. I really liked the way the Wet Look Clear came out over Tamiya's White Primer. Al
Porscheman Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Thanks again guys. I looked a long time for one of these and my friend give it to me and didn't know it was a Machine. I offered him money for is, but told to enjoy the build. Al
Sixties Sam Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Great work! It's nice to see some AMC models being saved! Sam
