Oddly enough I've been listening to the BB a lot past few months.

Sounds of Summer is a very good compilation of there magic. Every one of those songs is simply iconic for sure.

I've been turning the 20 somethings at work on to them. There lyrics combined with the melody/harmony are amazing, our version of The Beatles.

I mean who can't like songs about drag racing fast cars, surfing, and highschool romance? Pure poetry and good inoccent and beautiful music.

Best part, they grew up in the South Bay as I did.

PS Words to live by; "Good Timin"

Every Beach Boys concert I've been to in the past 25 years has been heavily populated by raving fans who weren't yet born when the Beach Boys were huge in the 60's! Their music is timeless. My children . . . and my grandchildren . . . love their music!

To truly appreciate the genius, see the movie. Brian Wilson is truly a genius and It is truly a miracle his music and talent emerged from the challenges of his early years.

One of his biggest fans is Paul McCartney.

And, you're right: Good Timin' is a beautiful piece of work. One of my very favorites, along with God Only Knows (which is McCartney's favorite song of all time).

Danno: You summed it up in that last post, Brian Wilson is a musical genius and it is incredible he survived everything he has been through. This is definitely a movie worth seeing more than once.

If you are a music fan this will be of interest to you as well.

I think the two movies are essential go-togethers. See The Wrecking Crew first if you can (maybe it's available on Netflix or something?) and then see Love and Mercy. Two excellent films!

I was around when the Beach Boys came up. A few years ago I got to see Brain Wilson in concert to promote his new album. It was great to see a legend in action.

I just saw this film; WOW!

I grew up in Hawthorne circa 70's and never really cared for em as I was simply anti what was popular.

As I grew and evolved I found myself really liking them, it took me a while to develeop good taste.

Dude, what a sweet soul and an amazing mind Brian Wilson has. A superlative human for sure.

His current wife saved his life no doubt and they say behind every great man, lies an even greater woman. Well, I modded it a bit
