Very nice, very clean! And it looks like a change of wheels/tires (and maybe stance) would take it right back to factory stock, or darn close to it. B)

Pretty much! Engine and suspension are stock, just modified to be lowered. Thanks!

Excellent work and craftsmanship. But I do have to question why you opened up the trunk like you did and cut the trunk lid rear lip in half and made a tail panel out of the lower half.. On the real 64-65 chevelles, there was no tail panel between the tailights like you have. The trunk lid rear lip went all the way to the bumper. Is your build supposed to be a custom? I just had to know as my eyes are constantly drawn to that area.

Matt - I hadn't really noticed until you mentioned it, but I cut along the molding lines that came with the kit. In order to mimic the exact design of the trunk, I would have had to cut the taillights out of the support bracket that is normally attached to the trunk on the real car. Doing that wouldn't have been worth the hassle I guess.

Very very well done. One little thing, the doors when open should tuck into the front fenders, not swing out away from them, otherwise a great model, and kudos for having the guts to open all the panels.

Lee - I tried my best, but all the wiring for the power windows, power locks and speakers got in the way. Kidding... I understand what you are saying, but didn't put much thought into it, other than getting the door to be functional and level. Apart from that, this was the first build I've ever done where I've cut anything out or hinged it. It's all about learning and taking those lessons onto the next build and making the next one better. I guess I try not to over-examine every little detail or be super critical since it is a small and delicate piece of plastic. There will always be something on every build that can be criticized (constructively of course) here on this site. Do I think the doors swinging out versus tucking into the body takes away from the build? No, but I'm also only building for myself and not trying to win a national title, either. Thanks for the comments.

Ok I think I know what you mean. I've never built this kit. But I have built/ worked on the real 1:1 cars. So you're saying the taillight housing sections are molded on with the trunk lip panel as one piece off the chrome parts tree? I assume that has to do with the chrome trim thats on that trunk panel and why they engineered the part that way....

Ohh and don't worry on the way the doors open. You did a great job on how you got the doors to open. especially for a first attempt. its not an easy task to get them nice and straight like you did it. Its definately more difficult, if not impossible, to hinge them in a way to make the doors dive in in the front edge like on the real cars..
