Sledsel Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) Round2 has the 57 Chrysler, should be able to modify to the Desoto, same with the Merc, use the 53 Ford as a base. Just dreaming Edited July 14, 2015 by Sledsel
Eshaver Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I'm with Lee here on the "Stock " option . I used to actually own a 1953 Mercury Monterey and a 52 would certainly look most welcome in a diorama setting . DeSotos have a following and if could do one stock , it's a sure bet .
mike 51 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Modelhaus has the 57 DeSoto (both a wagon and a 2 door hadtop) There has been at least one 54 Merc done..probably RnR (no longer made but probably not too hard to find). There might be another Merc, I just don't recall just now.
Sledsel Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 I want plastic, resin is too hard to modify and work with (IMHO)
Sledsel Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 This would be the first build, without bumper guards
mike 51 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I want plastic, resin is too hard to modify and work with (IMHO) Me too, but it's gonna be a very long wait (if they come at all)
StevenGuthmiller Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Give me the Desoto, or ANY Desoto for that matter!! Steve
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I'd buy multiples of both, really. The '53 for an old Highway Patrol car, a stocker, a custom...
Ramfins59 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Bill, I believe that the "Highway Patrol" car was a '55 Buick.
ChrisBcritter Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 A '53 Merc convertible would be nice; just needs a long, long trailer to pull...
Mike Kucaba Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 This would be the first build, without bumper guards WoW I think I'll take that resin '54 Merc I have and get started on this! If you like Plastic you could modify the Lindberg '53 Ford . Just chop the top, modify the rear quarters, scratch up a front bumper/grille and few dozen odds and ends. Just about the time you finish they'l announce a new issue.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Bill, I believe that the "Highway Patrol" car was a '55 Buick. The series used Buicks, yes, but they also ran Mercuries, Chryslers, Oldsmobiles and others in Highway Patrol markings, and even Chebbies as unmarked cars. One of the Oldsmobiles. Didn't have time to search for or screen-shot a Merc, but they were there too. Trust me.
my66s55 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 No, your not the only one. The differences between your desire and mine are 1: I want stock. 2: I will have them, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. 3:you don't yet have the ability to fairly achieve this while I do. Both of these are on my to do list as well as many others.

FordRodnKustom Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Bill, I believe that the "Highway Patrol" car was a '55 Buick. Ok well a 55 or 56 Buick would be great too! I'd vote hands down for the Merc if I had to choose.
mike 51 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 A bit of useless trivia .... Mr. Crawford's drinking habits had gotten the better of him by this time and he was said to have been intoxicated while filming the series. He couldn't remember his lines so the dialog was kept very brief. As was any physical activity. Lots of interesting cars in the show..even a hot rod or two
