Bennyg Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 I've ordered mine. Got a few to finish before I start this one. Ben
afx Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Thanks for posting this. Looks like a must have kit.
Matt Bacon Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Nice overview from Tom, as always. Mine should be in my hands on Wednesday! I think the small drop-in body panels he mentions are to account for the differences in the "Weissach Sport Pack" version that's coming a bit later in the year. Looking at the instructions, I think this is going to be one where you can't fit the front and rear bumpers before cleaning up and painting the body. The interior just won't go in with them in place. However, there are real panel lines at the joins, so at least you're not trying to eliminate a visible seam there.bestest,M.
Bennyg Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Revell is getting better every release. I'm a truck guy, but just had to get this. The panels seem to fit together well. There appears to be a few sink marks in the body, but even the tamiya Carrera gt had that as well. The wheels look like a step forward as well. Can't wait til mine arrives. I want to complete my tamiya gullwing before I start the 918. Ben
Luc Janssens Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Here's a static review of the kit...Wettringer Modellbau Forum
Bennyg Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Cheers for sharing the static post. Ben
Bennyg Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Hi fellas. The kit is very much like tamiyas Porsche Carrera GT. I think Revell has improved the wheels greatly with this kit. There a couple of mould lines and a few sink marks. Pretty much like I found in tamiyas Porsche Carrera GT. enjoy.
blubaja Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Bennyg :Hi fellas. The kit is very much like tamiyas Porsche Carrera GT. That kit is NOTHING like the Tamiya GT lol.
Bennyg Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 That kit is NOTHING like the Tamiya GT lol.I've built the tamiya Carrera GT and obviously have this kit. They do follow similar building strategies and the 918s separate body parts remind me of the separate door panels of the Carrera GT. at least give your opinion backed by reasons.
blubaja Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Revell by any country will never be close to a Tamiya kit. The wheels are more undersized like fujimi. The ROG kit does look good, and I'm definately getting both versions. And yes, ROG is improving greatly! But not tamiya like.
tmathew1us Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Has anyone seen this kit on the shelves in the USA yet?
martinfan5 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) The Weissach Sports Version is out now. Edited October 29, 2015 by martinfan5
Bennyg Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Plamoz is doing more accurate wheels for the 2 Porsche 918 variants. Ben

Scott - Elm City Hobbies Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 If anyone is waiting to buy this one, Revell USA is also bringing out a rebox of this kit on their December releases, save yourself $15 or so over the ROG kit. Same kit, different markings and instructions. Will probably be late Dec. or early Jan. before they hit store shelves. The Weissach Edition is due out from ROG in North America as a November release, likely early December before they hit store shelves.
