Smart-Resins Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 A good friend and great modeler, bruce Stewart has master A Pontiac Astre Front nose clip and rear spoiler. We would like to know if you would prefer the Astre to be made as a stock version, a drag version, or just the mastered pieces be done as a transkit type deal. We would be talking $25 for a full body kit, or probably $10-$15 for the transkit. Here are the pics of the parts on a drag version. Thanks. Jody
Smart-Resins Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I vote full body kit!!! Would you want street or drag? Thanks.Jody
george 53 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Would it be possible to have both? personally I'd take a street version and a drag version.
MrObsessive Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) I'd like to see a full body kit likewise! Of course I'd want to build a street car! I can't think of any suitable chassis that could be kitbashed with that. I drove an Astre a loooooong time ago (early '80's) and believe it was a '77 that my Uncle owned. Not a bad car and certainly better than it's cousin the Vega as it didn't suffer the same maladies as the Vega-------ie: self destucting engines due to lack of cylinder liners for its aluminum block. The Astre IIRC used Pontiacs Iron Duke 4 which would in later years find its way into the Fiero. Edited March 10, 2008 by MrObsessive
camaroman Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Would it be possible to have both? personally I'd take a street version and a drag version. Yeah, what he said!!!
Ron L Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Not sure if this has been done before, but why not make two wheel well "inserts" so the builder can choose between stock and drag? It would require some putty work in the end, but resin builders should be used to that by now.
nonova Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 My vote Stock and drag versions. That's my 2 cents
Billy Kingsley Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I would be interested in a stock version as well...I love oddball cars like that!
Smart-Resins Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 I would be interested in a stock version as well...I love oddball cars like that! Bill, can you send me a message. Thank you. Jody
Fuel Coupe Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Im intrested in one of these bodies... How do I contact him....
george 53 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Shane, his website add. is posted on the first line of his signature. Im just waitin till I get some money to order one too.
charlie8575 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I'd be interested in a kit of the factory stock version, primarily because I have nothing to use as a basis. I like doing something a little different. Charlie Larkin
Phil Patterson Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I'd prefer a stocker as well. My brother had an Astre coupe that I drove for awhile, decent little car for what it was.
Smart-Resins Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Hello. Just a quick note. We are trying to cast up the front and rear of the body panels now. Also have a 72 body coming in for us to work on as well. Will keep you posted! Thanks. Jody
lordairgtar Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Is there a pic to verify the accuracy of that front grille opening? I don't quite remember that look. I would certainly like the full body kit/stock.
lordairgtar Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Here is the first Astre. Canada only. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1048082937037328283PLHUhC Edited March 30, 2008 by lordairgtar
Smart-Resins Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 This is a later 70's version. The earlier 70's version was much different. Thanks. Jody
Smart-Resins Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 Hello. Just a quick update. We have decided to do a trans kit to start with. It will be the nose piece, tail piece and tail lights. I will upload pics later when I get the chance as I just got back home from a show. Bruce is sending me the master to cast. Not sure of the price yet, but probably around $15. Thanks. Jody
