Randy D Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hi JC, You are killing this one !!!!! That side view is so cool. Randy
afx Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks Randy. Loving the GT40 build - just awesome! Here are the knock-off installed.
bismarck Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks Randy. Loving the GT40 build - just awesome! Here are the knock-off installed. I GOTTA get mine outta the stash now!!!! That is beautiful work JC!!! You made the kit supplied rims look great.
cobraman Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Wondering if you ever applied your skills to the 1/16 Cobra. I'm working on one now and it is not without it's problems.
afx Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks Kevin, yea like I said it is surprising how much detail is hiding under that chrome. Thanks Maxx.Ray , no I haven't built the 1/16 scale Cobra kit. I try to stick with 1:24 / 1:25 scale.
65slotcar Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 looking good with the gold wheels, are you going with decals for this build ?
afx Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks Bill. Yes I am really hoping the VRM Big Block Snake decals will be available soon, I want to do the '66 Sebring car.
250 Testa Rossa Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) The best thing to do is wait a month after the paint dries before clear coating with TS-13. The shinier the surface, the better the decals will stick. That paint job looks great on that car. Edited April 4, 2016 by 250 Testa Rossa
afx Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 No clear on this one Maxx. I very rarely clear my builds.
dublin boy Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 The Spot lamps look fantastic JC, never seen a Cobra with them before.
afx Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Thanks Ray. Shay this is the car I am attempting to replicate.
afx Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) Don't know Maxx, the fancy covers they used to start the race don't have any logos on them. Seriously, US Cobra where delivered with Lucas lamps so I suspect the driving lights are Lucas as well. In addition I haven't noted any Marchal logos on the car. Edited April 20, 2016 by afx
Speedfreak Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Fog lamps look great JC, really nice. For some reason I think this particular car is very cool, just like it. Did this car 'finish' in '66? thanks. Edited April 8, 2016 by Speedfreak
afx Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Thanks Dan.Gene, it won its class (sport +5000) and finished 10th OA (overall). '66 was the year Ken Miles/Lloyd Ruby won in the GT40 roadster. '66 the year Ken Miles won Daytona , Sebring and should have won LeMan but Ford politics robbed him of the victory. afx Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Accessories in place at the rear. The bungee will slip over the trunk handle when it is permanently installed (after decaling).
afx Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 (edited) What are you using to make the cord ? Picked this up at Michaels: 0.5mm black. Edited April 10, 2016 by afx
Dann Tier Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Picked this up at Michaels: 0.5mm black. Nice idea! Q: are you using Fujimi tyres from a GT 40 kit?
250 Testa Rossa Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Man, this is getting better and better! Now I know what to get to emulate bungee cords.
