#1Volsfan Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 It would be great to see a new modern spread axle flatbed. I for one would be purchasing several of them. I'm grateful Moebius took the ball and ran with it on there International truck kits and the Great Dane Trailers. Just to add to a wish list of future products I would love to see an all new Livestock Trailer or any new modern Peterbilt or Kenworth kit. Doesn't hurt to dream I guess.
Edsel-Dan Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I am trying to understand something here on these UGLY Spread axle trailersIs the Weight spread actually Worth the Number of Tires they Burn off due to Scraping them arround turns???I watched a Semi with a 40' box/refer trailer in Downtown Pittsburgh make a turn, This was Late 79-Early 80The Trailer suspension was on One bogey.The Lead axle Did NOT turn but DRAG around the corner.He Had to burn sever mile Off those tires, if not Flat-spot them BADLY!!! Wouldnt the Spread axle trailer do that Much Worse???? I do hope ANY trailer kit offered as Spread axle, also include the option for Standard close-couple suspension!!!! Just wish I could afford the new Moebius Semi kits!!!!!

Just wish I could afford the new Moebius Semi kits!!!!!Yes, it is for weight. On a standard closed tandem setup, it's good for a legal weight of 34000 pounds. With a spread, it's legal to 40000 pounds. Most modern spread setups have either or both, dump valve and lift axle. That prevents the dragging and damage to tires. But, a good driver knows how to drive with a spread axle trailer, so damage doesn't happen. Edited October 10, 2015 by Petetrucker07

chuckyr Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Since it seems that there is interest in new Moebius tractor kits - seems there is lots of interest in KW , Peterbilt or Freightliner. I think it's a good idea for me to speak up here. As of today, Moebius only has a license for class 8 trucks with Navistar.Would we like to do other big rigs? the answer is a qualified yes - the problem is that these are monsterous projects and require very large investments of time and capitol.We are a very small company and we have 5 major car/truck projects plus the new 53 ft trailer in the works now along with numerous other projects, not related to cars/trucks. Will we branch out to other Big truck brands? I hope that we can, but we need to get current projects, under development, on store shelves first. Once that's done, we need to determine a subject that we can do profitably, make licensing arrangements and proceed to development..Please keep in mind that development for one of these big trucks can take18 months to two years, after licensing has been signed and a subject determined. The 53 ft smooth side trailer is in test shots now and seems to be on schedule for release this fall. I have one sitting next to my work bench now waiting for paint. Bottom line for new tractors is we'll have to wait and see what can be done - I wouldn't expect anything by way of a Kw, Peterbilt etc. very soon. New trailers you say!?That may be easier to do than a new tractor - we've been looking at several possibilities. I'd say another modern trailer could happen much sooner than an entirely different brand of tractor - simply because a trailer is much simpler than a tractor. Once again, we need to get some current projects on store shelves before we get too deep into another new item. DaveMost questions answered a while back.

I would buy as many as i could, i know id buy a case right away. I think with the demand, at least shown on here, they're gonna keep it a secret till or if they get test shots. Petetrucker07 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Weight distribution as Chuck stated. On a closed tandem axle setup, your allowed 34000 pound max. On a spread axle, your allowed 40000 pound max.
