Just wanted to thank EVERYBODY at Revell for bringing us such great model kits for the past while!  I love all the street rod subjects mainly. Particularly like the '29 Ford roadster recently released, and judging from the builds on this site, I'm certainly not alone. Just wanted to give you guys a BIG shout-out!!

Despite the criticism one often reads here, I completely agree Wayne. Revell has done a great job with the new kits they've designed over the last 20 years or so. I like the subjects they've picked. And I've found most of their new kits are fairly easy to build, with very few problems. So yea. Thanks Revell.

I just don't understand why they didn't include full fenders in the '29. Had they done so, I'd be grabbing several. As it is now, I doubt I'll buy even one.

I agree. Despite the harsh criticism so often voiced on ALL of the forums Revell had done an outstanding job at listening to what the modeling community wants and they have quite often delivered. There will always be subjects that we wish they picked as well as subjects we ask ourselves why did they pick that one. True some kits have short comings but in the main they have done a great job with subject selection and execution.

I absolutely agree that Revell has really been bringing out some fantastic stuff over the last few years and overall they feature only minor accuracy issues, except in a couple of specific cases (like the '90 Mustang.)

Because the '29 body is sitting on top of a '32 frame (a hot rod tradition going all the way back to the late 30's) or channeled over the '29-style frame. Neither scenario caters to having fenders without heavy modification. Practically no one would build a full scale hot rod like this (partly because of the work involved, partly because it doesn't look very good) so finding such a subject for Revell to use for engineering would be next to impossible.

Even if a person has no interest in building a '29 Roadster in any form, that box of parts is an absolute kit-bashers delight!

Luckily, AMT's '29 Roadster kit is easy to come by and has a stock body and fenders for those who prefer that.

Because the rear wheel openings are raised., a fairly common hot rod modification.  Stock fenders wouldn't match up.

Dennis & Brett, I hadn't realized the kit was altered, so that makes perfect sense. What you say about all the extra parts is very true, and I hadn't thought about that at all. I have a strong desire to do both a full fendered street rod, as well as a completely stock '29, so I'll hunt down the AMT kit as suggested.

Thanks,

While I cant really thank them about the kits , I will thank them for the excellent service Ed and Tower Hobbies gave me over the wrong parts in the Golf kits.
