jeffs396 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) I finally finished one! I built this one quickly (over a two week span, or about 25 total hours, give or take...) AMT/MPC 1932 Chevy. Tried to get it done for a local show that had a Rat Rod theme, but didn't quite make it, so I just finished it. This car is going thru an identity crisis...is it a Rat, or a driver work in progress? Not sure, but I think it turned out pretty cool looking. Phantom Vickie chassis, rear tires, and cooling fan. Revell '62 Impala 409 and 4-speed, with Rat Roaster blower/carbs/velocity stacks/air cleaners, etc. Aluminum rear wheel sleeves, frame spreader bar, and steering column. Parts box wheel centers. Cut down frameless windshield. Monogram '57 Corvette steering wheel. Hypodermic needle tall shifter. Trans tunnel made from cut-down aircraft aux tank. '61 Impala taillights. Beretta Pro Street headers. MAD distributor. Everything else came from the '32 Chevy kit, some parts modified, some out of the box as-is. Weathered/worn Duplicolor primer body, Model Master "Green Go" lacquer accents. Let me know what you think... Edited November 7, 2015 by jeffs396
DumpyDan Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Aright, nice work that body on that frame, makes me start thinking of what I could do
Jantrix Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I do like this a lot. It's got a great authentic look.
Snake45 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Wow, very VERY nice and cool indeed! I vote that it's a driver-in-progress, NOT a rat. Too nice to be a rat.Primer Queens are kewl!
jeffs396 Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Thanks guys! It's nice to finish something for a change!
Earl Marischal Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Very nice WIP to my way of thinking. steve
Jeremy Jon Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Nice build Jeff, bravo!! Love the little rods like this!
Tom Geiger Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I like it a whole lot! It's a '32 but not a Ford so that's pretty cool. My grandfather's first car was a '32 Chevy Roadster. I need to build that one someday!
jeffs396 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Thanks again guys, much appreciated! Working on a '33 Chevy pickup (cab made from the Barnabas van) kinda in the same style... Edited October 23, 2015 by jeffs396
jeffs396 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Just got one of my grail kits ('32-33 Chevy panel) and just had to put the body shell on this chassis to get a look Sure wish AMT would revert the Barnabas van tooling back to stock! Edited November 7, 2015 by jeffs396
Ramfins59 Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Great job on the Roadster Jeff. I'm planning to do a similar "driver work-in-progress" with the new Revell '29 Roadster.
Harry P. Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 You forgot the coolant hoses between radiator and engine!
59 Impala Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Real nice build fer sure and it's not a Ford. Now, I don't have anything against Fords just to let ya know and it's nice to see something different than a Ford build. The 409 looks great settin in there also. Looks more like a Hot Rod than a Rat Rod to me that is. Great build Jeff. Dan
jeffs396 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 You forgot the coolant hoses between radiator and engine! I know, I know... Got them bent up, just need to put 'em in place. Thanks again everyone
