Sorry to hear that.  This stuff is not easy.   Been there myself.  Three years ago I went to put my 15 year old Chihuahua to sleep and I started sobbing like a little kid in front of the receptionist.  I sure will pray.

Sorry to hear that. Lots of people can't relate to cats much, but my cat Merlin was my best buddy after my wife passed. He was about 12 years old when I had to go in for heart surgery, and no one would take him in while I was in hospital. So after exhausting all my options, I was in the position that I had to have him put down. It broke my heart to do that, so I know how you feel. But 22 years is a good long life for a cat. My prayers are with you.

We just lost our oldest cat, 16 years old, last week.

I remember having to put my Dad's dog down, 2 years after he past away. That was the roughest thing I've had to do. He was at my Dad's side when he past away. It's been almost 9 years since my dad past, 7 years for his dog. I still have moments.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard losing them. We had to have our 20 yr. old cat, Barney, put down on Wed. We had him from the time he was 6 wks. old & it leaves a big emptiness in the house.

I had to put my two cats to sleep from illness in different years. Best friends i ever had. I cried like a baby. I will pray for you...

I'm very sorry Lee, and I'm feeling your pain! I may have to consider putting my oldest cat down soon. :( He's 13, (will be 14 in March) and has not been doing well. He still wants to eat and is drinking water, and he's not hiding. That's the only thing that's keeping me from taking that final step.

It is tough..........this will be the second time in six years I've had to put a cat down. I got an 8 week old kitten 4 months ago, and I've determined that he may be the last one I'll have. I've had cats as pets since the early '80's and the pain of losing 'em is getting to be too much. By the time the youngest one of my cats is at that old age, I may be retired from work and may not want to deal with any more pets.

The reality of who's going to take care of them when I'm gone will have set in big time. :(

They become a family member. It's a VERY painful process when it happens. I'm sorry for what you're going through. I'm sure most of us on here can relate.
