aurfalien Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Hi, This, my 3rd model started out wondefully until I melted the right side of the front end. Several things I learned; 1) Don't over analyse. I thought I could better the dry time by putting it out in the sun which resulted in melting. Just wait like every one else. 2) Don't fix what ain't broke. The paint this time around wasn't good over all. Simply because I read a bit about the difficulties with yellow and decided to do several mist coats. My original paint job which was far better, was simply 1 mist coat, 2 normal coats and a final wet coat. This technique works best for me and is one that many seeminlgy use. 3) Constantly test fit. I test fitted a small amount before the disaster and zero after. This resulted in having to correct after final paint. I did learn a lot and had fun. I would highly recommend this kit in either Dino 206 form or Dino Wolf Yatabe flavor (both Fujimi) as it's very well designed and offers the opportunity to customize. PS I poorly planned the rear wing and almost left it off. But the car would have looked out of balance due to the front air dam. PSS I'm happy to have finished but a bit dissapointed in my assembly an dgenral outcome. I sorta feel like it ruined the kit.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Looks very good. Great racy colors, and definitely a model of a striking car we rarely see. Nice work.
aurfalien Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Thanks monsignor Ace. very kind words as usual, especially from a master.
dublin boy Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I think you're being a bit hard on yourself there, It looks lovely from here.
aurfalien Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Thanks afx and dublin boy.The words of encouragement are very much appreciated.
Twokidsnosleep Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Looks great!!!I know how hard you battled to get her done, good job
aurfalien Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Looks great!!!I know how hard you battled to get her done, good jobThanks Twokids! This kit is the Yatabe one. Its sort of like a 2 in 1 in that in can do either the 206 or the Wolf. However it doesn't have the 206 decals, only the Wolf decals.I think Fujimi missed the boat as it could have done a full detail 2 in 1 with both sets of decals and this would have been an awesome kit.

MGL Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 If the front end is damaged I can't see it from my house, looks great.

花火 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 nicely done...sexy car if you ask me.. although one thing..this car has no 'window black rubber' or sticker..whatever you name it...(however I know that the real car also doesn't have this..but it just looks a bit strange in my eyes..
nutboltu Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 If only everyone had the skills to do such 'poorly done' models.
Davewilly Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 looks pretty good to me....nice work with it
