Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Well guys.... this is something that's totally new to me. I decided to take the plunge and build a 1/16 scale 70's era Blown fuel flat bottom drag boat.........so with that being said here are some pics of this beast Ive been tinkering with. First off.......The Joe Sargenti Donovan 417 Hemi 1/16 resin engine...
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Next...... Engine is installed in the runners and running gear installed.....
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Now......fitting that assembly into the beautiful two piece Hull.....
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 further mocking up of running gear installed into the boat.....
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 more pics of the mocking up stage....
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Now off to the paint booth for some color!.....
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 The colors I used on this boat are all House of Kolor paints.....Sunset Pearl Orange....Majik Blue Pearl....and Violette Pearl.
Dirt Demon Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 I'm now on the home stretch and this is where I am at currently on this build........
Nacho Z Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 This is sooooo very nice! Very clean build. Engine and paint are absolutely great!
MAGIC MUFFLER Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 It's turning out beautifully!!!! I have seen a couple of these built and they seem like really nice kits. I was researching these a while back and there not cheap!! Nice job ..
John Teresi Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Billl.......this is BEAUTIFUL looking boat......everything is so nice!!!!!
Dirt Demon Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 Thanks guys!...... I'm going to be honest. I don't know a whole lot about these boats......and yes Billy these are pricey kits.... the hull wasn't that bad at $65.00.......but the accessory kit...$195.00!! . The instructions are not very clear ...very few pics.....mostly all written. So I had to do a lot of online research on these boats for placement of various components in the boat. It was more of a" wing" it type of thing.....but I'm happy with how it has come out so far.
Petetrucker07 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Dude, this one nice build. Then, with it being not clear on the directions and not knowing much about boats. You did a great job.
Dirt Demon Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 Thanks guys!...... it is now finished..... will post more photos soon
mustang1989 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 This is one sweet boat dude! Keep the progress coming ................
Mooneyzs Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Bill... Nice Job on this. I am totally digging the colors on it. I picked up one of these kits right after I started my Army Vega Funny Car build 4 years ago and I have been dying to start it.
Dirt Demon Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Thanks guys....I finished the clear acrylic base that the boat will sit on.....but I may scratch build a trailer to set it on...lol...it never ends!!!
