Terry Jessee Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 It appears that Fisher Pattern & Model has started doing some of the 1/24 resin sports car kits again. Not all are available, but there are quite a few. This is one of my favorites: Hosted on Fotki This is the 1958 RS60 "Center Steer" Porsche that Edgar Barth drove to win the F2 race at the German Grand Prix that year. It's modified from Fisher's little winged wonder. Neat little kit. I removed the rear fender skirts and the fins, then added some dry transfer numbers to complete it. Terry
CAL Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 They never really left. Fisher was just taking a break from the cars so he could focus on Aircraft parts and get that division going, but always maintained he would return to doing the car kits.

While his first love is cars, he's a businessman and he's told people that resin planes are a lot more lucrative endeavor than cars. Can't blame him for following the money, as long as I get a chance to get some of his cars from time to time. I've got his D-Type Jaguar to build this year during the 24 Hours of LeMans. I sure wish he'd eventually carve out the Alfa BAT 7 and BAT 9 to go w/my BAT 5. Loved building that one.
colin Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Thanks to a post somewhere else in this forum I found out about Fisher. I have just ordered and received the Chaparral 2E and 2F....OUTSTANDING. Can't wait to get started on them.

I had bought mine right before he stopped making the cars. And I need replacements for a bunch of the parts. I contacted him right off the bat and he said the next time he has it out to contact him again. Frustrating cause this is a car I want to build.
MrObsessive Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I'd like to see him rerelease some of the more obscure stuff he had------such as the Alfa Romeo BAT 5 and the Maserati 450S! Love your Porsche Terry! Anything from Porsche in the '50's is neat in my book!

Love your Porsche Terry! Anything from Porsche in the '50's is neat in my book! He got the wire wheels from Herb Deeks who isn't making them anymore, so if you really want a BAT 5 you might get it sans wheels. And I agree, that Porsche is great. I love vintage (and modern) Porsches
MrObsessive Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Bob, did the BAT 5 use the slight offset Borranis? It's hard to tell because the car has those low cut wheel well skirts. Herb Deeks is selling his PE Borranis once again............'cept he's doing it through eBay. I'd link to it here but eBay's links never work right on this board-------I guess because their addy's are so dang long! Just do a search on eBay for Herb Deeks and they'll show up.

Anyway, someone did a Maserati 450 S because I've sure seen one in that scale.

I don't know if it was Ed Cervo that did them, but he had one on Feebay recently and it sold for a Model Factory Hiro price. I do remember enough that it wasn't a Fisher model. I do know about Herb's wheels on Feebay. Part of me wants them, part of me wants to spend a day over at Pico Elgin's house and learn how to make my own wire wheels with fishing line and a computer printout lacing pattern. You simply cannot beat spokes that are the proper cross-section and width vs. the flat PE variants.

My next Fisher will be the Lola T70 Heads up on Fisher's instructions on those cars. He calls out for the white to be an off white. It should be a bright white. The white changed from race to race depending on what they had in the shops. Good matches are Tamiya's TS-26 or Testors Lacquer Classic White. Thanks for the comments on my cars. Quick and fun builds.
ScaleCentral Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 There's only three kits not listed on his site that he did. He did a Sunoco McLaren that had different striping and more like the early McLaren version. The second is the Porsche 908 longtail. The final was never released. It was the Porsche 917K. I think LMM released it first, but it was announced in one of his fliers. BTW, the Maserati 450S that Ed Cervo listed was a modified Scale Kraft kit that was a modified Johnson Teapot. I have one of the old Johnson Teapot kits, that I've been trying to pond off. I may put it up on EvilBay this week. Nic
