peteski Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Real or a model? Vote here. Edited December 14, 2015 by peteski
Jantrix Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 It's such a small and low quality photo that there is no way to really see any clues.
Harry P. Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 It's such a small and low quality photo that there is no way to really see any clues. There is one thing I see that tells me REAL.
dw1603 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 It isn't the highest resolution image I've ever seen, but I'm confident that it is real.
peteski Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Since I created this poll on Thursday, I'll give an answer on Thursday, Dec. 10.
horsepower Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I voted real, I got the dirt on this from a fairly competent source, and he said it's real.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It looks real, but based on the variation of the model kit compared to the pictures of the real thing that I have seen, I'm going to have to vote model, but a very GOOD one.
Speedfreak Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I was going to say model, but, the grill just looks too real. If it's a model it's incredible.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Since the game was supposed to end yesterday, I will give more details as to why I think this very nice build is a model. The 1:1 pictures that I've seen are of a 379. This is a 359 with 379 headlights (just like the kit). The grill and screen look more like the kit set up than the real thing. The underside of the front fenders looks too new to be the 1:1 (to me). The wipers, and glance through the windshield will fool you, but I still believe that this is a very well built model instead of the real thing. If I'm wrong, disregard all of my observations. LOL.
horsepower Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 The reason I went with real WAS the underside of the front fenders, to me they appear to have some road muck tossed up onto them, it even looks like some sealer or oil stain of some kind.True Peteski said he was revealing the truth on December10th, he just neglected to say what year. ?
otherunicorn Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) I now know the answer, so if our host forgets to answer soon, I will reveal all. Edited December 12, 2015 by otherunicorn
horsepower Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 You have discovered the way to keep a group of people at your attention for twenty four hours, you'll tell us how tomorrow.
Old Buckaroo Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Still a mystery ? I am going to say model as light appears to be coming through the front fender due to thin material.
otherunicorn Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 It's a model.http://www.classicplastic.org/pete-pb.htmlAnd I got it wrong...
dw1603 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Well I could have got it right except I put down the wrong answer! Even with a better image to work from, I reckon I still would have gone for real. That is an impressive model.
Renegade Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I also got it wrong but that is one impressive build.
peteski Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Sorry guys - I had computer problems and couldn't post til today. Yes, it is a model: the old ROG Peterbilt Stepp's CAN-DO wrecker kit. More photos and a writeup are at the URL theotherunicorn provided. The votes were 41/59 (real/kit). Since the subject of the model was a real wrecker I thought it would be a good challenge. I'm sure that the small photo did help to make the kit look more real. Thanks for the votes and compliments.Ken, I'm curious, how did you find that webpage? Edited December 14, 2015 by peteski
