If you could build a band, who would be in it? Here's my line-up....................

Les Claypool from Primus on bass, Danny Carey from Tool on drums, Dave Matthews on rhythm, Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes for vocals, Buckethead on lead guitar.......

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden (vocals), Mikkey Dee of Motorhead (drums), Criss Oliva (RIP) formerly of Savatage & Trans Siberian Orchestra (lead guitar), Eddie Jackson of Queensryche (bass), and Scott Ian of Anthrax (rhythm guitar) B)

Sorry, I'm an 80s headbanger!!!

Yea, Buckethead is an awesome player! His ego gets the best of him sometimes, though............... He had a chance to play for Ozzy, but he wouldn't let Ozzy call him by his real name, only "Buckethead".............

I'd go with John, Paul, George, and Ringo. B)

But if I had to build a Frankenstein's monster of a band, that's a tough call. So many good people to pick from. If we limit ourselves to living people... David Gilmour, Lindsey Buckingham, and Jimmy Page on guitars, Benmont Tench on keyboards, Tim Schmidt on bass, Dave Grohl or Kenny Aronoff on drums, and Robert Plant on vocals. Now that's a band!

I almost forgot the two most important aspects of making music, writing and producing! I would have Alan Parsons produce, and probably Claypool as lyricist as he's already in the band...........  :D

Lindsey Buckingham has lost her voice!  When Fleetwood Mac appeared on The Today Show she couldn't sing a lick.  I felt bad for her. Stevie still sounded good.

Uh... Lindsey Buckingham is a man. Lead guitarist of Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood are the guys... Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks are the girls.

Hmmmmm... I'd have to go with me on guitar, my friend Trey on bass, and my other friend Kenny on drums and call it The Surfonics.

She quit the band in the late '90s and just recently rejoined. Maybe she's just out of practice... ;)

I'll play, here's a blues rock lineup that could go a bit beyond the norm.

The late Gary Thain (Keef Hartley, Uriah Heep) on bass.  Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa) on drums.   Leslie West  (Mountain)  and the late Lolly Vegas (Redbone)  on guitar, Edgar Winter on keys.  Special guest; Carolyn Wonderland on vocals.  (And more guitar)

This would be a pretty slick blues band.  I might switch out to Pete DePoe, or Bill Ward on drums.  Not sure how necessary keys would be in this band

I could build another ten bands, and they would all different, but they would all be awesome!

I think this is a tough question, since it's hard to know if the people you choose would have anything in common musically, but picking people all from the same genre would just be boring.

Throwing together a few names that are influential on me, I'd say:

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) on vocals and keys/programming

Chris Wolstenholme (Muse) on bass and backing vocals

Ty Tabor (KIng's X) on guitar

Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) on guitar

and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) on drums.

Speaking of the E Street Band...

musical guest on SNL last night. Oddly enough they played "Ties That Bind," a 35 year old song from "The River" album...

Music is my big hobby, so this topic has come up numerous times for me and my friends/bandmates.

Currently, I think this combo would be interesting:

Vocals - Chris Cornell

Guitar - Zakk Wylde

Bass - Robert Trujillo

Drums - Mike Portnoy

Anyone, eh?

Aiming for something of a jazz/funk band....

Dave Brubeck and Thelonius Monk on twin pianos.

Bernard Edwards on bass.

Wes Montgomery on rhythm guitar.

Buddy Rich on drums.

Benny Goodman on clarinet.

Kenny G on sax.

I need a suggestion for organ. Jimmy Smith playing the organ. A Hammond B-3, naturally.

Al Hirt and Jimmy Dorsey on trumpets.

Jeffrey Osborne, Tony Bennett, Jody Whatley, and Carmen McRae for vocals, depending on song.

Ok Harry opened the Door those that no longer convert O2 into Co2 My Band'd be :

Lead Guitar'd be a hand off between Jimmy Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan with either doing the rhythm for the other

Bass Guitar John Entwistle   Now for some that are still around -

  Drums Mike Shrieve

  Organ Greg Rolie

If we can nominate dead people, my choices would be different.

Guitar... do you really need to ask? Jimi Hendrix. Maybe Stevie Ray Vaughan too, and they can trade licks. Bass... sticking with Tim Schmidt... drums, John Bonham hands down. Vocals... I'll stick with Robert Plant.
