odie Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I Have always love the motorama show cars since my dad took me to see them when I was a kid This model shows the LeSabre in its later form, they redid it in I think 1955 or 1956 .This model started out as a plastic toy ... I found that it was close to 1/18 scale and by adding the sabre wheels ,seats etc. from a diecast Cadillac, painting it with my airbrush with a mix close to the color of the real car .....Let me know what you think I am sure that Harley Earl would love it. Ace-Garageguy Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Whoa. I've always loved that rocketship design, and have thought long and hard about trying to build it.You've done a great job here. Nice work.
Tom Geiger Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Gotta love it! You did a great job on that one.
unclescott58 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Made from a plastic toy? Wow! Looks great.
odie Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 thanks this is a different kind of build for me I usually do some crazy stuff of my own design or radical customizing ralph
Crusader101 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Very nice! That LeSabre was always one of my favorite concept cars.
DumpyDan Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Good work, I like these cars to. Well done!
CometMan Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Great job!! If you put it next to other GM models from the 50's you can see how many of the styling ques actually made it into production!
Speedfreak Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Cool car Ralph, I've never seen this before, thanks for sharing!
odie Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Thanks all Yes as Craig states GM used a lot of styling ideas from this car and when I converted the toy version I found that the 57 Cad parts helped me to covert it into a fairly convincing model Ralph
