Helix Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Merry Christmas folks, Well after feasting on way too much food yesterday and subsequently burning it off after a long bike ride, I decided to finish this one off.... It's loosely based on a 78 Toyota Celica I once owned 25 years ago and the AR11 kit (motorised kit) represents a 77 GT model. Tamiya Light Metallic Blue for the body colour and Tamiya US Navy Blue for the interior, found some pin stripes which sort of matched the real car. My biggest issue was how to replicate the Aussie 'Aunger' wheels, in the end I sacrificed the wheels from the Hasegawa Lamborgini Muira P400 kit because they looked pretty close in a roundabout way !!! It's a good feeling to build a replica of a car you once owned and this will look good in the cabinet Cheers Ray
Kit Basher Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Nice replica, Ray. I bet that was fun to drive.
Daddyfink Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Very nice! And old Co-worker had one with a supercharger on it. That thing was scary fast!
Speedfreak Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Sounds like you had a good time on this build Ray, what are your thoughts on pinstriping now? Nice job.
Dann Tier Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Great job, Ray!! The wheels and tires do actually look sweet on it!! I like SOME of those Arii kits too.
Helix Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Cheers guys, I've owned a few Celica's, good car, very reliable! This one had a few engine mods to give it some attitude I traded it in on a 84 Celica which will be the subject of a future build
DeeCee Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Nice replication there mate, looks real good.
