landman Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Might as well jump into the fray. The third and last of the FTB fleet. It will eventually pull the Revell car transporter. AITM cab, Plaskit spoke wheels, Snap Pete chassis, V10 engine, Paystar tanks and a few odds & sods. Edited December 27, 2020 by landman
Petetrucker07 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Boy this one is close to not meeting the requirements. Since your only using the snap chassis, and so much extra parts and resin, I'm ok with it. This I'm sure will be an awesome build.

Petetrucker07 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 The rules state no Snap kits. But like I said, since you've got so much more goin on and it's just the chassis, I'm ok with it.
rctruk Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'd love to see this. A company I used to work for had a few of them. One had a gas motor and a 5X4 tranny....talk about a gas guzzler.
Mopar - D Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Pat great selection I've built 2 of these and both have car transporters behind them. Are you going to open up the hood and swing fenders?
landman Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Pat great selection I've built 2 of these and both have car transporters behind them. Are you going to open up the hood and swing fenders? I was thinking on how to do that. the casting is pretty thick. Have you done it on yours?
Mopar - D Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Pat I have not but the next one I get I plan to. I believe that if you score the lines good and then finish it off with a razor saw it will come apart and then you would be able to thin the pieces. It will look very impressive with the fenders opened and the hood up.
gatorincebu Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Pat, After watching you last build. I have no doubt that you will come up with something really nice. Be Well Gator
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I can see that this build off is going to produce a lot of my favorite trucks. This is one of my favorite trucks. This will be a cool build!! Looking forward to more!!

I wonder which would work best Guitarsam's rod & tube method or those mimi piano hinges?
Mopar - D Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I think maybe the mini piano hinges would work best.
tbill Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 along for the ride on this one as well, another cool mix of parts for an old school rig.
landman Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) And so it begins.... Edited December 27, 2020 by landman

gotnitro? Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) The photoetch hinges are a real hair puller!! Years of building armor w pe usually is a breeze , but these were challenging to say the least!!I used mini hinges for the Oshkosh mixer, and loved how simple they could be. Cut to length, glue on, and move on...I ordered the 6 inch one . Comes preassembled.http://www.phoenixmodeldevelopments.com/acatalog/The_Phoenix_Miniature_Hinge_Range.html Edited January 4, 2016 by gotnitro?
landman Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I was thinking of these :http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/Piano-Hinge-13Mm-X-140Mm, but I see The phoenix ones are even narrower. Yet Guitarsam's method appears to work great. I guess I'll try both.
landman Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) Out of the wash & rinsed. Scratched up a compressor based on the Snap Pete's. Added some pulleys from the parts bin and a belt. Edited December 27, 2020 by landman
gatorincebu Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Pat, Looks like you are not wasting any time on this one. Nice fab work on the compressor! Be Well Gator
Mopar - D Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Pat looking so far. Are you staying with the early 60's head lights or change them out to the single head lights?
Mopar - D Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I've built one of each going with the single I just removed the existing and drilled out opening for the singles. I used a set of head lights from the Dodge L700 kit.
