Ace-Garageguy Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 This is an old '60s B&W film, mostly about dirt-track production car and figure-8 racing. Kinda stupid, and kinda sad to see all that rust-free SoCal '50s iron destroyed, but it has it's moments.
ChrisBcritter Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It certainly gives you some evil ideas for what to do with old warped promos!
vintagercr Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I'm going to have to watch that later. Looks cool!
vintagercr Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I watched the movie and wept at all the vintage tin getting beat up
Tom Geiger Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I didn't watch it but it cannot be as bad as the last movie I saw. My wife and daughters dragged me to see "Joy". It's about a mop.
Mike 1017 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I am gonna watch it later. The figure 8 racing is a lot better than Demolition Derby IMOMike
louie Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I watched maybe half of it and definitely like it. Unfortunately could not finish watching right now but I will ABSOLUTELY finish watching it later today. Yes, it's hard to watch all those cars being wrecked but the car's where not valuable collectable's back then. The lead actor says that the car he is buying in one of his scenes isn't worth 50 bucks , WOW how things have changed. I think that I saw George Barris mentioned in the opening credits playing himself. Ace, I like the movie pretty cool stuff so Thank you for posting it. Jeff
unclescott58 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Need to warn people. The above video is 1 1/2 hours long. Not a short 10 or 20 minutes thing.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 I think that I saw George Barris mentioned in the opening credits playing himself. Yeah, he makes a quick cameo appearance, talking about race-car aerodynamics, of all things.
unclescott58 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Other than the last 5 minutes, this is one of the best "B" I've seen in a while. I liked it! Especially the dune buggy scenes. The story is not too bad. The acting is pretty good. The race scenes are fun. It has a real gritty feeling that a lot of racing movies from this time period miss. Worth taking the 1 1/2 hours to view it.
Maindrian Pace Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I liked it. Cool car overload, and some pretty decent acting as well. 8/10
RancheroSteve Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Lots of info, trivia, and opinions here:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064819/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_11 Edited January 10, 2016 by RancheroSteve
RancheroSteve Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Looks like the racing scenes were filmed at Ascot Park in Gardena, which closed in 1990. I saw the World of Outlaws race there not too long before they shut down.
Dave Van Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 THANKS for posting that!!!! It's a pretty decent B or independent film for that era......most you can't watch they're so bad......Kinda liked this one. Add to it a family connection of sorts.........Dad was Valvoline racing director for the west coast at the time this was filmed so all those Valvoline decals and hats came through his office at one time or another.......a far reach but it tripped some memories I have of helping Dad put together bags with Valvoline decals, a pocket protector and hat that we would hand out at events in So Cal. LOTS of model ideas in it too........ Dad's office in downtown LA early 1960's.....

Your Dad working at Valvoline in the 60's in So Cal, you must have a million awesome stories to tell. I just absolutely love hearing about what went on. And I love the picture of your Dad's work x10. Thanks for sharing. Jeff
