CFMgarage Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 How's it going? I'm still active duty (for now), and I'm a huge fan of cars and working on my own cars, but due to an injury last year, I'm limited to sitting or laying down most of the time, which brought me into model cars. I used to build them with my uncle when I was a kid, so I got back into it now. I enjoy imports and I really get into customizing them, but I'll build my fair share of muscle's, trucks, dragsters, and even exotics. It's unfortunate that I can't really work on my own car but I'm glad I found model kits as they're much cheaper and just as much fun (except for not being able to do donuts with them)... Oh...while I'm at it, can someone tell me how to remove glue stain from headlights? I used superglue on my first few models and the headlights look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH.
GTJUNIOR Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Welcome to the forum Gergo. Sorry to hear about your injury. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here.
CFMgarage Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 P Harvey - Thanks man. I used to race too. (Well, I used to autocross, and then I got into drifting and I did that for a couple years while on active duty)...thanks for your service and sacrifice!
Foxer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Welcome to the forum. If the glue in on a textured side of the headlights, your out of luck removing the glue traces. If the plastic is smooth you can polish it out with fine sandpaper, like that used to polish paint ... up to 12,000 grid.

I finally got the right glue for it, but even when applying the smallest amount, it goes white. It's annoying.
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Welcome Gergo from a disabled Veteran (Marine). I use Canopy 500 for head & tail lights. Dries clear. CA glue will frost clear parts and chrome.

Yeah, I know CA glue got on my nerves real bad with my AMT Chrysler big block I built for a project a few weeks ago. Edited January 20, 2016 by CFMgarage misspelled
Crazy Ed Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Hi Gergo, Welcome to what's the Friendliest corner of the Cyber World.
Jmaracing Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Welcome gergo. Iam a vet also. Army. This is a great place to be. A lot of great people.
disabled modeler Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Welcome Gergo... Were glad to have you with us all. Building is a great way to pass the time...believe me...LOL.. Thanks for your service to us all.
Dann Tier Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Welcome, Gergo!, seems we have a lot of veterans here, I am one as well. On my good days, modeling makes me feel better. Even though ive been building since 1977, on bad days, even models don't seem to help, but if we keep on trying, we will reach our objectives. thank you for your service and sacrefice's! Happy Building!!
CFMgarage Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Thanks everyone for the warm welcome
snacktruck67 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 From another (Army) vet, welcome. If you have a Revell kit you can go to their site and request a replacement. If it is AMT, MPC and so on, you can go to the AMT site, download their form, fill it out and mail it in for a replacement. Both take about 2 weeks in turn around time.
Olskoolrodder Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Welcome to the forum and building! I'm a Veteran (US Army,Airborne 11B,1991-1995) who's also disabled (injuries not service related, but were "on the job" 7 years before I was forced outta work because of it),thank you for your service,Brother
hack-n-whack Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 If the glue stain is on the inside of the lens, you can sand and polish it out. Not too easy if its on the outside. Best bet would be to get a replacement lens. PS Welcome to the forum.
CFMgarage Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Thanks everyone I'm gonna sand and polish and see how it goes.
CFMgarage Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 And thanks to everyone for the nice words. Definitely didn't know there were so many vets on here! Thanks for you guys' service and sacrifice!

yh70 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 welcome Greg thanks for your serviced..i use ca glues all the time, but you have to get used to them and purchase some of the after market tips for different kinds like thin to thick..also get you some DE-bounder ..the DE-bounder may get it off but never had that problem..i use Elmer's white glue and also model masters white glue for clear parts..
