PowerPlant Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) With all of the ongoing licensing issues between Revell and Ferrari, I'm glad to se that RoG seems to be maintaining good relations with Mercedes. The SLS kit they released a few years back was a turning point in their approach to kit engineering (in my opinion anyway), and I'm now really looking forward to the AMG GT announced for later this year... However, it would be nice to see them release some classic Mercedes cars that were never kitted before, such as the SL Pagode or the legendary AMG 300 SEL race car known as the "Red Pig"... Which Mercedes cars would you like to see kitted, by Revell or otherwise? Edited January 21, 2016 by PowerPlant
Exotics_Builder Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Already announced AMG GT, love to see Sports Sedans like an AMG E63.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 With you on the vintage selections, Matija. Would LOVE to see a pagoda-roof SL. AMG GT is a pretty fantastic consolation, though. Very much looking forward to that. Not to go too far off topic, but while we're in that general pagoda-roof era, if Revell Germany has a workable license with BMW, we need a state-of-the-art 3.0CS and a 1600/2002 yesterday.
Atmobil Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I made a ficticious boxart for this: I would also love to see a W114/W115 and a W123 and S123 (sedan and wagon) and Revell did make 1:18 diecast versions of the W120 Ponton and W111 220SE so maybe they could downscale them and make them in plastic. And they could aslo reissue the old Esci Gälendewagen Firebrigade kit (they did a reissue back in 2004 with kit number 07366) and also do a reissue of the W124 sedan and wagon kits that they have had before and they also did a version of the Esci W201 190E with kamei styling that I would like to see reissued (even if I have two unbuilt in my stash). And why not a W116 S-class aswell
Mike Chernecki Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 An AMG GT passed me on the road a while back. Normally Mercedes do not get my attention but this thing was gorgeous, loud and tons of power. I am interested in the new kit.

Remember their Premium Bimmers of the late 80's/early 90's? One thing I am concerned on the AMG GT and an announced McLaren 570S is skill level 3. I was told that RoG was enamored with the Revell USA easy builds (C7 Vette, ZL1 Camaro) that those two might be offered as such.
dartman Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Wow,I'm liking that red car in the first post.
unclescott58 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Would be this or the w112 coupe. Coupe or convertible, of the above.

Exotics_Builder Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Really? 3 on their 5-scale? Aw man... Yep. Don't know what that portends. Hopefully, there will be more info next week from the Nuremberg show. My biggest gripe with the easy build Revell USA offerings is that the chasses are reminiscent of the early 60's AMT's. I really don't care for that!

Indeed, since RoG just released the i8 (not so much my taste) recently, it would seem their licensing deals with BMW are pretty solid, and the two cars you mention seem like no-brainers, but oh well... Maybe some day... Fingers crossed. At least a 3.0CS! Remember their Premium Bimmers of the late 80's/early 90's? One thing I am concerned on the AMG GT and an announced McLaren 570S is skill level 3. If the AMG GT turns out to be a snap-like pre-painted kit it will be a major letdown, especially compared to RoG's wonderfully tooled SLS kit. And, speaking of Revell's "Premium" kits... Really, whatever happened to some of these? Or these, for that matter: Edited January 22, 2016 by PowerPlant

khier Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 .Which Mercedes cars would you like to see kitted, by Revell or otherwise?Which Mercedes cars would you like to see kitted, by Revell or otherwise???That is really a long, long list. But to put it short, anything between 1957 and 1977 is welcome. The Pagoda is on the top of the list, of course, followed by any of the C-111s. In any case no more 300SL please.... we have an excellent kit made by Tamiya. If it must be another 300, a new tooling of the Uhlenhaut 300 SLR.
Atmobil Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 These are my Mercedes-Benz kits, as you can see there is several Revell made ones. An reissue of any of them would be nice but also older and newer models. What about the more modernday E-Class? Fujimi made the W210 but the W211, W212 and the soon-to-hit-the-showrooms W213 could also be nice to see.

The E-Series looked like ESCI was the source and not in a good way. I picked up the 230 TE when I was in Germany on a trip and eventually gave up on it. What Revell kits are you building that have chassis that remind you early 60's AMT kits. I like early 60's AMT kits. Look at the new C7 Corvette (easy build not snap) and the 2013 ZL1 Camaro. They at least have a modest front suspension area and separate exhaust, but the rear suspension is molded in the chassis and uses the metal axle approach. Just would have loved that to be separate as well. Edited January 22, 2016 by Exotics_Builder Typo
unclescott58 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Two more I'd love to see. Though with the 300s from the 50's, I want the four-door convertible.
Richard Bartrop Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 A 300S would be very nice. How about the 1886 Benz? There are some large scale kits, but it would be nice to have one in 1/24 or 1/25 An SSK would be nice, especially if they decide to do a better version than the Lindberg kit. How about the Count Trossi roadser if they want to do something different? Some of the Silver Arrow racers fromthe 1930s would be nice. There's certainly been no shortage of 540K models, but if they could somehow obtain the molds of Jo-Han's excellent 500K models, I think that would be a welcome addition.

Atmobil Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I have a kit that is supposed to be the 50s 300 sedan that was made by ITC (Ideal Toy Corporation), marked as Made in USA and dated 1962. It says on the box that it contains "23 precision molded components". It is and understatment to call it BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH but it looks almost like a toy car of a Mercedes and it is fun to have in the collection.
sjordan2 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Junkman's suggestion of the 300 S is good, but I prefer the 1951-55 roadster or Cabriolet.

The more I look at it, the more I'm thinking... YES, PLEASE! And yes, a proper SSK would be nice, too. As for the Jo-Han 500K's, I have the Special Roadster unbuilt and it does seem like a nice kit indeed
