I recently received an Ebbro Citroen DS19 1/24 kit which will be built as the '65 my brother had long ago. I am astounded at the quality of this new Ebbro kit, both in the amount of detail and the fitting of parts I have started. Everything seems to have alignment pins and they fit together well.

I remember my brothers car as a maroon and he confirmed it was maroon with a maroon roof and had a light grey and black interior. I have some research to get the colors right, but I expect I will have to mix something up that's close.

I have only started cleaning up the engine parts that have virtually no mold lines, even on the round parts! It's pretty much only finishing up the tree attachment points.

This is the kit and a shot of the engine assembly ... even the fuel line off the carb goes into the pump assembly!

Looks like a nice kit.

I restored the body and paint on four or five 1:1 DS cars over the years. They're not for everyone but I like them.

Cool, so II have a question for you. All I've seen have the same color on the C pillar ... under the roof lights. Is that a white? .. or silver? It's difficult to tell from interned photos.

Interesting subject. I'm not that familiar with the car in general, but I was given a ride in one in the early 60s and was impressed with the smooth ride compared to American cars of the day. I remember we had to wait for the car's air suspension to level after I got in before we could drive away.

The Early Cars had the panel done in brushed Aluminium, later cars had a slightly rippled effect, still aluminium though, I'll have to dig into my reference material to find the exact date they were changed, I have also seen a few of the early version painted in the same colour as the roof panel,

Looking forward to watching this build, as I have a few on there way to me, for years I've  been a great fan of the DS I've never drove one, although I have driven the slightly later DX, beautiful ride ...

WHY.....is this kit the same price as the new 1/12 Tamiya F1 Tyrrell kit??? The Tamiya has lots of new tooling, PE parts and twice the size?? I wanted the DS19 BAD but doubt I can justify the cost. New ICM  1/24 kits are in the low $30 range......they'll get my cash for now.

I'll just watch you build.....

Just been going through some of my reference material for the DS, apparently the smoother brushed C pillar trim panels were only fitted to the Pallas version of the DS,

that was my thinking on this kit Dave, I put my pre order just after they were announced at last years German toy fair, even though the price of the kit wasn't listed, when they became available, I got an email telling me the price of just over £63 !.!

Naturally I cancelled my order, their Renault 4 kits were listed at £40, although I never paid more than £35 for mine, luckily over the weekend I got a cracking offer from a hobby shop I've been using for quite a few years, £36.99 each, worked out cheaper than getting them from HLJ or Lucky Model in Japan, so I managed to get 2 at that price.

Because Ebbro are more conservative about how many they'll sell, so they're amortising the initial cost across fewer kits? Plus, it's the number of parts that costs money when tooling a kit, not how big they are, and it's certainly a complex and well-detailed kit...

bestest,

M.

I never got to drive my brother's because I was home on an Army pass a few days and the Cit was "up on logs" for repairs. :D

The price IS a nasty point on this kit. It was around $70 ...  most I ever paid for any kit. But, if I ever 'had to pay $70 for an auto kit', this would be the one I'd pick! it LOOKS like a $70 kit!
