Close third:

And, fourth . . . but by far the most reasonable in price:

Maybe it's because I'm not from Chicago, but...... having all of that extra stuff on a hot dog just does not appeal to me at all.

I'd bet if you had one you'd love it.

A GOOD hot dog doesn't need anything on it.

But chili is good. So is Swiss cheese.

That's a new one on me. I have never heard of putting Swiss cheese on a hot dog before.

Is that a regional thing? Or just your thing?

Maybe just my thing. Brown mustard and Swiss cheese on a hot dog. I have it at least once a week.

But then I've been known to put Swiss cheese on a tuna sandwich. Sounds disgusting, I know, but it's actually pretty good.

Well, of course Portillo's is good!

You do realize that Portillo's is from Chicago... right? ;)

Talk about humble beginnings... not even running water!

I've been known to add Swiss cheese to a dog. Sauerkraut and Swiss cheese, with a shot of mustard, is an excellent combo, IMHO.

Well, I like hot dogs. And I love Swiss cheese. I just might have to try that some time! :D

Mmmmmm...I'm gonna have a dog with Swiss, sauerkraut and dark mustard on black bread for lunch.

Swiss IS good with tuna too. On rye. Throw a couple slabs of tomato and some dill pickles on there, a little fresh-ground black pepper, maybe even some jalapenos and just a touch of mustard...tasty.B)

Yeah, I like swiss cheese on a tuna sandwich too.   Chili cheese dogs are great too...

Hope this one doesn't gross anyone out, but, my all time favorite sandwich is Taylor Ham (Taylor Pork Roll) sliced paper thin, but a lot of slices, with Muenster cheese, mayo, salt & pepper, on fresh white bread...... I've loved it since I was a kid.

Replace that white "bread" with some real bread, like maybe a Kaiser roll or some good Jewish caraway rye or some Ciabatta, and then you've got something! :D

Of course I realize Portillo's is from Chicago.  Well, actually Villa Park which is near Chicago.  ^_^

But regardless, I don't drive to Chicago or thereabouts for a dog.  I'll go to Tempe or Scottsdale, but that's about as far as Dick Portillo can expect of me.

Got me on a technicality.

Let's say they're originally from the "Chicago area." :D

It's about memories from our childhood... words...food... it's all good. B)

Now where did I put my Pez dispenser...

Mine's on my desk at work. Darth Vader.

A Darth Vader Pez dispenser is just (IMHO, of course) the funky-coolest thing ever. B)

I do it all the time. It's simply a hot dog Reuben, especially with Russian dressing.

I also recommend a Cincinnati-style chili dog with Skyline chili. A whole different thing.

Yeah, a Kaiser roll works good for this sandwich too Harry.
