Ack! Ack-ack! Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 As all Ertl truck or trailer kits this was a pleasure to build. Most of all assembling such a different model was a very interesting change for a car and truck modeler like me. The only shortcoming of the kit were really nasty seams in the recesses of the rear tires. Nevertheless it was a very nice kit. Hopefully there will be a reissue some day.
dptydawg Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Nice job on the JD. It is a very interesting kit. It is most unfortunate that Ertl quit making 1/25th scale agricultural models. Carl
disabled modeler Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Very nice work..! I loved these series of tractor kits...shame they cant bring them back for us.
Travis T Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I had one of those and the backhoe, I don't know why I didn't keep them. Very nice!
Old Buckaroo Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Thomas - Bravo on very realistic looking JD tractor. Colors are spot on , I really like this one. The real ones have those nasty seam / flash when the tires are still pretty new. I think you have a better operator for your JD then we do here.
Ack! Ack-ack! Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks a lot, I am glad that you think that the result looks realistic!I also built the backhoe loader, but in my opinion the tractor model is a bit more attractive.
Renegade Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Would be hard pressed to say real or model. Great build.
Roadrunner Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Looks good. I used to collect John Deere stuff, but most of it is now gone, unfortunately.
dptydawg Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I agree that the 4430 builds into a nicer model than the 310 out of the box. The backhoe needs to have some pivot points hinged and a few missing hydraulic rams added, then it it builds into a more impressive model.Carl
Kit Basher Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 That looks great! Just curious. I have this kit, but would like to build it as a 4040. Are the numbers part of the yellow decal, or are they separate?
Roadrunner Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I just now noticed the avatar of the OP. I love that movie!
Ack! Ack-ack! Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Thanks again for the replies! That looks great! Just curious. I have this kit, but would like to build it as a 4040. Are the numbers part of the yellow decal, or are they separate?I am almost sure that the black numbers were printed on the yellow stripes, but I think it should be possible to scan these stripes and modify the numbers with Photoshop or a similar app.
