Jantrix Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) I picked this up from a friend as a rebuilder. It's one of my favorites from my childhood. I'm not getting too fancy with it, just want a nice shelf model. It's coming along quite well. It's Testors One Shot lacquer, Lime Ice. I'm going to use the Gashopper decals unless I can locate some of the Pinto decals. And probably some sponsor decals from the Stone, Woods & Cook gasser. I'm cool either way. Going to ditch the hood though and just add a bug catcher to the top of the carbs. The engine looks too nice not to, and I've never really liked snorkel scoops. Edited February 23, 2016 by Jantrix
cobraman Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Nice ! Built that one and the Vega many a year ago.
Roadrunner Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Cool! I've always like the Pinto, regardless of configuration, so this will be interesting.
Poppa mitch Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 What did you use for the plug wires, what gauge is it? I like the look!
disabled modeler Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Cool..! I built one of these and many of the old Monogram show rods/Tom Daniels kits as a kid...Loved them and still do...nice to see one again.
louie Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 What a great kit ( re builder ). The color is great and I agree with you about the hood. Thanks. Jeff
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Nice work. Great color and nice work on the engine.
Jantrix Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 What did you use for the plug wires, what gauge is it? I like the look! Its 30 gauge wire. The boots are the insulation from a larger gauge wire. Thanks guys I'm glad you like it. More soon.
Deathgoblin Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Looks Great! I have GOT to get one of those.
geemoney Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 beautiful!the Shotgun looks sooooooo cool!nice work!help me to remember:the original issue was green, had a hood, slicks on the back?original wheels were?second issue was red? no hood, street tires?yours looks awesome!!!
Lordmodelbuilder Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Nice job so far on the rebuild. I am in the process of rebuilding my red Poison Pinto I built in 1971.That one looks like the Pinto Street Rod kit that came out in 1977.The Green & Red versions of the Poison Pinto didn't have a hood. The decals for the Poison Pinto model are available on Ebay.Have not seen any decals for the Street Rod version.
Jantrix Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) Thanks Brad. Based on the parts, this is the version I have. From what I can find, it's the only version with a hood, moonroof and the shorty pipes. I may look into the ebay decals, but for the sake of being different, I'll probably just stick with the Gashopper decals. Edited February 24, 2016 by Jantrix
oldcarfan Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Looking good! I've been buying up the Tom Daniels kits I had as a child when I can find them. One of these days I'll recreate my youth! LOL
