Natortot Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) This is the latest of my builds. The only one that I think is worth posting. All parts were brush painted and the body was done via rattle can. There were plenty of things that went wrong for me in this build. So, for my next one I think I'll be relying heavily on the forums for tips and tricks lol. Let me know what you guys thinks. Cheers. Edited March 7, 2016 by Natortot
Natortot Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks Cobraman. I think the camera I used was just very very forgiving haha.
Dann Tier Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I think it looks great too! great job with the rattle can!
parkflyrer 50 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Very nice..nothing to feel bad about from what I see..also very good idea to use these forums for learning and ideas trust me I've learned lots from these forums...
Allen Wrench Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Turned out very nice! One suggestion, if I may ... grab yourself a sheet of Bare-Metal Foil and learn how to use it. Adding chrome trim to your models makes a world of difference in terms of realism.
espo Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Very well put together and great black paint job. Black is one of the hardest colors to get right. You might see if there are any decals for the engine call outs on the front fenders, and the tail lights might be upside down. Great build.
Hubert Rollins Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I think it turned out nice! I will offer you a paint tip if I may. There's not one thing wrong with a spray can. You don't have to have an airbrush to get a slick paint job. Here's what I do: prime with Duplicolor primer( white for lighter colors, black or gray for darker). Water sand w 2000 grit sandpaper. Spray your color coat ( I do 2 coats). Get a can of Duplicolor clear and put about 5-6 coats on, water sanding lightly with the 2000 grit between coats. Get a polishing kit from a hobby store and polish the dog out of it then rub it out with car compound and wax it with car wax. It takes a lot of patience but the result is great!! I'm not a pro nor am I arrogant but I'd like to help folks if I can. I could use advice on interior detailing myself, cause my skills at it suck!! ?? Message me with questions if you'd like.
Natortot Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 Wow. What a turn out! You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the comments and great advice. I think coming here to the forums was the best idea I've had in a while. Thanks again everyone.Cheers.
AC Norton Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 well, Nathan, I sure wish things went wrong on my builds like your Impala here....that's a nice, clean build and very tasty as well....great job,,,,best,,,the Ace........
Monty Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Nathan, as the other guys have mentioned, it looks like you've done some admirable work on that build. I also agree with Allen Wrench's recommendation about learning to use BMF. It's relatively cheap, it's easy to use, and it will revolutionize your building. At some point, you'll start looking for things to use it on. Not long after I learned, I was using it on the AMT '67 Impala's horn buttons (+/- a scale 1 1/2 inches).Quick question: are the pinstripes decals? If not, how did you get them to bend and taper?
Natortot Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 The pin stripes are decals that came with the kit. Goose's original design has the car a really sleek silver color. I think the red really pops on the purple I was able to make using the red metallic and transparent blue.
