Furiousgeorge Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 This was a quickish box stock build for a local show/contest to sit next to a '69 GTX I'm also trying to get done. Done in Tamiya gold with two shots of clear, black interior. This is the first successful BMF job I've done. I'm not super happy with the gold paint, had a few bits of crud in it, but in a house with three kids, two cats and a dog the size of a minature horse, I called the third repaint good enough!
AC Norton Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 that's a nice, clean build....great work there.....the Ace....
Belugawrx Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) That paint, and decal , laid down smoooth, TrentDid you decal the gauges? or brush paint (interior looks Great) Cheers Edited March 20, 2016 by Belugawrx
Furiousgeorge Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 Thanks for all the comments guys! The gauges I detailed with white and red pencils crayons and painter the trim rims chrome silver. I actually built this car to match a 1:18 diecast I have. The only difference is that the diecast has steeples and redlines, but I couldn't add them and stay in the box stock category. I might change them over after the contest. The paint is a wee bit rough, I'm not sure how (or if it's even possible) to polish a metallic paint smooth without it loosing it's color. The clear helped it feel smoother at least!
Belugawrx Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 You can always polish clear And by pencil crayons,..you mean sharpened,.. to a razor point, ? and used in a drybrush technique..?I like itCheers
Furiousgeorge Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 Belugawrx that's exactly it! Works fairly well, but they have to be sharp.
CometMan Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Very nicely done! I wish my "good enough" paint jobs looked like that!
Hubert Rollins Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 That is beautiful inside and out. The gold paint is beautiful. I'm working on a '67 Chevelle I repainted twice and still got trash in it. It seems to me like it's almost impossible not to.
showrods Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Great build! A few questions if I may: 1. What colour and paint were used for the engine block?2. Same question for the oil filter.3. How did you do the windshield washer reservoir? It looks absolutely real.
bismarck Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Very nicely done! I wish my "good enough" paint jobs looked like that! I know what you mean. Some of mine come out looking like I sprayed them with a Windex bottle.
