I need just enough bronze paint to paint an engine block. All i can find is one coat By Testors. Is there a way to mix your own?? I have no idea what colors to use?

Model Master Jet Exhaust is kind of bronze-y. It's a brownish metallic "steel" color with a hint of gold. If you airbrush, you might be able to tweak that with some more gold, yellow, red, whatever to get to the shade you're looking for.

Depends on the shade of bronze you are looking for. Shiny, polished bronze or a darker, aged or oiled bronze. Kit Basher's approximation of Copper + a touch of black should be close. The older the bronze, the more black you can add.

If you want the actual color and have a HobbyTown nearby, you can buy the small tin (14ml) of Humbrol Bronze enamel.  It's fairly cheap - it shouldn't be more than $2.00.  It's also available by email from a number of suppliers.

Testors square bottle "Copper" looks more like bronze than copper. If it's not exactly the color you're looking for, maybe add some black or brown.

I have a bottle of that.

Going for the older bronze for a 50 ford engine block...

Actual bronze is more on the gold side than copper.

Think of something cast in bronze.

I don't know if that's the type of color you're looking for, but I would get a jar of Testors gold, copper & silver or aluminum & just play around with it until you get the color you're looking for.

Maybe have a little Testors "rust" or brown on hand for darkening.

Ah, that looks like the mid-60's Ford Coppertone colour my dad had on his Comet. Emberglow Poly might be the shade. It's bit copper-y and orange-y.

Then the Humbrol bronze color that has already been suggested--that is very close to what Ford used.

Ah yes.

I would call that copper.

I assumed you were looking for something to replicate the metal.

This looks closer to an actual body color.

I just ordered a bottle of 1957 Corvette "Aztec Copper" from MCW.

If I have some left you're welcome to it.

But that could be a couple of months down the road.

It's not as orange as this color, but it would look good.

I think I could get to the color on that engine photo by mixing Testor Turn Signal Amber and their Kiln Red.

If Steven's engine pic it what you're shootin' for I think some of your Copper with some Orange and a light drop of Red'd fill the bill.
