JasonC Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) It's been a while since I've posted on here. But I thought I'd share this recent build that I finished. I didn't go crazy on the details, tried to keep it simple. I did make a single 4Bbl setup for the engine tough. Edited April 7, 2016 by JasonC
cobraman Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Looks like a nice car but the photos look weird on my computer.
GTJUNIOR Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Looks like a nice car but the photos look weird on my computer. ditto.
JasonC Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Odd, looked fine on my computer, but now on my phone they look smooshed.
JasonC Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 I used Facebook to host them. Maybe I'll try uploading them to Photobucket later and host from there to see if there is a difference.
Harry P. Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 The photos are way too big, and this site's software is "smooshing" them into the max. allowed space. I downloaded one of them and opened it in Photoshop...these images are 16 inches wide! There's no way they can appear here at that huge size without being squeezed. Heck, most people's entire computer screens aren't even 16 inches wide! You need to make these a lot smaller before you post them. I always resize my photos to 9 x 6... seems to be a good size.
bbowser Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 My first car was a '66 hardtop so I'm biased, I really like your model
JasonC Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Think I got them fixed now. Rehosted from Photobucket and chopped the size in half. My monitor is 21" so that's why they look normal on mine.
Crazy Ed Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Looks Good Jason. Are you using a Camera or Phone/Tablet? Nomatter really. When I download to Photobucket I always resixe my Pics to 1500x1000 pixels or 1000x1000 if the image is square and no larger than 3K .JPEG.Saves LOADS of Room on Photobucket and downloads to the Forum as 1000x666 or so anyway.
Ulbo Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I like the choice of wheels and color. What color did you use?
rickcaps55 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 For a quick build I think it came out awesome very nice. !!!!
RAMBENNA Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 looks great, nicest on of these I have seen, good work
ToyLvr Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Nice. Did anyone offer a Corvair convertible kit?AMT offered a '63 Monza in convertible form, but all of the other Corvair annuals have been 2-door coupe or hard tops (that I can recall). A few years ago, one of the resin casters offered a '69 Monza convertible body and boot, intended for use with the reissued AMT '69 hardtop as a donor kit. I cannot recall who produced it, but it was very nice, so I bought one. I still see them pop up on evilBay occasionally.Nice job on this one, Jason! It always warms my heart to see Corvair models show up on the Forum. Your center-mounted 4-barrel carb set-up was indeed offered by aftermarket suppliers. However, they did not work well; very hard to keep in tune, and didn't operate well in cold weather. Still, it's realistic to have it on your model.?
JasonC Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 Thanks for all the comments! So on to the questions, I will not be at NNL it's kind of to far away for me. I can't remember the color I painted it cause I painted it about 9 years ago and stuck it back in the box. As for the convertible models. Toylvr is right on the late model cars being hardtops only in model form. And someone did offer a resin boot. But this boot came in the kit. And they even offer the boot in the latest release of the corvair kit. Now about the center mount four barrel not working well.. I got a 65 Monza with a 140 4 speed. It has the four barrel setup and works very well! Even in 30℉ temps. I have a 450 cfm Holley on it, Clark's stinger exhaust setup, unknown cam, AMC Comp Cam 1.6 roller tip rockers, deep finned pan and finned valve covers. Its a very fun car!
