Rob Hall Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Anybody have an idea when it'll be landing on retail store shelves?Sometime in 2016 I assume... Round 2 doesn't really announce release dates very far in advance.
gasman Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Online sites say July. Due this month from MPC is the 75 Corvette, and the 79 Pinto. From AMT due is the 65 Grand Prix, and the Beetle Bus
charlie8575 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I asked at NNL-East. June/July is the target on-sale date.Charlie Larkin
caine440 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Did not know about this one. Very cool. I have been looking for one on ebay , glad I did not pay big bucks for one.
louie Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I'm Pro Streeting the Poop outta this one!now that's a great idea. I'm with you on that one. Thanks. Jeff
oldcarfan Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I plan on getting a couple of these and of the Pinto wagon as well. Being the contrary way I am though, now that it is becoming available, I also want the '78 version also of the Volare and the hatchback version of the Pinto. I always want what I can't have!
gasman Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 This kit is out now. just ordered 2 of them. one too restore a 79 kit I have, and another that will be built as an 80
Rob Hall Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Interesting, this one had been showing as an August release, but they are in stock now at at least one vendor..ordered a couple just now. The MPC '73 Mustang which had been shown for July is now showing as late August.
'70 Grande Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Sure would like to see some pics of the parts inside this reissue once any of you have one in-hand! I believe it'll be pretty much a straight reissue, but I haven't convinced myself that I need to get one yet. Can one of you post some pics here when you get one? Thanks!
Rob Hall Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I do wonder if they have done anything w the tires. IIRC the stock tires in the Volare kits were hard plastic.
unclescott58 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I do wonder if they have done anything w the tires. IIRC the stock tires in the Volare kits were hard plastic. I'm willing to bet, Round 2 will be giving us better tires than just the old hard plastic ones. The hard plastic ones may still be there, but I'm sure a nice set of vinyl or rubber (what ever they're made of) will be there too. That's the way it's been done in other Round 2 reissues were the hard plastic tires were originally in the kit.
Ben Posted July 7, 2016 Author Posted July 7, 2016 Just ordered two from Tower Hobbies. 17.69 each including shipping! (They have free shipping on them and I use coupon code 01A15 to get 15.00 off 50.00 or more)
unclescott58 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 For those who have order the kit. I hope we can see a review pretty quick. No matter what, I'll being buying the kit in the near future. But in the meantime, it would be nice to see what exactly is in box with this one.
unclescott58 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Still waiting for a nice review, showing us what exactly is in the box. I still have not bought one. The guy sells most of my new releases has not been at MCCM meeting the last two months. So, I have bypassed buying from him on a couple of the new kits I've really wanted. I like to give him my business, but I can also be a little impatient. The Volare maybe my next purchase before seeing my regular vendor at the meeting. The Pinto wagon can wait until I see him next.In the meantime, let's see a review.
