I have the same problem at both work and home. It's so slow that my screensaver times out while waiting!

I'm just speculating now, but is it possible that leaving EVERY post since forever online is creating that? Can you dump off some oldies and speed things up?

Vent mode off now.....

Hey Dave,

I've got dial up and a 10 year old computer with a CRT and have no speed problems. Instead of coffee, try an adult beverage, then you wont care.

Yup..............I complained about that in another post a couple weeks ago.

It's to the point where I'm not on here for long because the slow wait time is too dang frustrasting.

I'm not one to complain about much but geeeeezzzzz..............

It's pretty annoying, isn't it?

It's about as speedy as a fully-laden VW bus ascending a 9% grade while running on 3 cylinders :o

But then again, the other magazine's forum isn't much faster, and is sometimes much slower...

I'm on a high-speed line here at the office and it's still verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow. In fact I find that clicking on a link usually doesn't even work at all unless I hit "reload" first???

What in the wide world of sports is going on here? Gregg, is your car parked on the internet hose again???

That's probably because your connection is slow to begin with. The site speed won't matter all that much if your connection is the bottleneck, it's gonna be slow regardless. I'm on hi-speed at home and at the office, and I have noticed that the site has indeed slowed down conciderably the last month or so. I guess you shouldn't complain when it's a free site, but I agree that it is annoying sometimes. The worst thing about it is that I can't use that beverage here at the office. :o

I have a T-1 line at work, and hi-speed cable at home, so it is most certainly NOT the size of the incoming "pipe". It is also specific to this board alone. I participate in many other boards, although not a regular on that other mag board, and this is the only one that makes me nutz with it's slowness in loading speed.

It is slow

I will have to see what is going on in the back end

May have to prune some tables, some posts that are "dead", and see what other tools will work.

There is an upgrade to the software, I will try to run this week

 Ooops, my bad. For some reason, I now get a looooong "waiting for modelcarsmag.com" message when I try to either post, or just look. Getting to the point that it's not worth my time or effort to even try. Seems to be a plug in the plumbing.

"so it is most certainly NOT the size of the incoming "pipe". "

I thought they were tubes and everybody knows that all you have to do in Seattle is stick your arm out the window and somebody will put a $tarbucks in it, so that's not a valid time reference and . . .nutz, i waited so long for this to load, I forgot what I wanted to say. I thought it was my PC, I just upgraded from the water wheel to coal-fired!

Gregg,

Here are some thoughts from a frequent poster.

I use the tips and tricks section to ask for help. I usually get the help or answer within a few days. Maybe drop the subject post after either a given number of responses or a fixed time, like 10 days.

The under glass section is great, but viewing and/or commenting need be done only once. Again, maybe a fixed time.

Works in process could be dropped when the project is completed and appears "under glass".

I'm sure that the same type of things could be used on the other subjects. Might reduce the amount of data the server has to handle.
