bubbaman Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 ok it`s been roughly a year and i`ve got 12 models built - so another shelf has to go up - do you guy`s remember when you had my problem and how many shelfs ago was it
crazyjim Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Carney Plastics makes clear case that will hold 24 builds. There's 4 of them on my walls.
espo Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 You might check around some of the inexpensive furniture stores in your area. In the past I found some very nice real wood book case type units with adjustable shelves. These happen to be about 6 foot high but there are many sizes out there. This gives my four adjustable display shelves with another two shelves that I use for books and magazines. I have seen some very good looking pressed wood shelving units that would also work.
Renegade Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 About a month ago when I came back from the flea market my neighbor had just put out a solid wood gun cabinet for the trash. Nothing wrong with it and even had the keys in it. Put a top and bottom light in it and am waiting on finances to allow for the purchase of some plexiglass to make shelves for it. Should hold about sixty cars, five per shelf. Bonus is the cartridge cabinet below will hold paints or spare parts out of sight. Will post some pictures when I get it finished.
cobraman Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm up to two cabinets in the garage and seven in the house. I have a very understanding wife.
Nytrozilla Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 (edited) I got lucky and picked up this bad boy for 60 bucks at a local thrift store. This was about 40 shelves ago. But, then again, I'm really, really old, so.......... Edited May 19, 2016 by Nytrozilla
gtx6970 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Just a shelf, that's easy. I'm to the point of needing another display case. I keep thinking about adding glass shelves in one of the cases to make do for the time being,,,as I don't really have room for another big display case like one of these
Nytrozilla Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Bill, those 2 top shelves have some of my favorite Funnies. Looks like an OCIR Manufacturer's Meet line up.
Tom Geiger Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Put a top and bottom light in it and am waiting on finances to allow for the purchase of some plexiglass to make shelves for it. Should hold about sixty cars, five per shelf. You can get real glass cut at a glass shop cheap! I did that a few years ago for my wife's curio cabinets that had wood shelves. You can get shelf pegs at Lowes or Home Depot. My main display case in the office on the main level of the house. This is where I keep my own builds. It's time to add a glass shelf between each original shelf. It's hard to get a photo with the mirror back! My original case that I've had 20+ years. Got it from my sister when she moved. It's upstairs in the model room. I keep interesting old built ups in it. It also could use extra shelves. The narrow case was a garbage day special. I keep my Olde Kustom Kollection in this one.
THarrison351 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 What I had in the old house. If I ever get my hobby room finished I'll probably do something different.
