gotnitro? Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Just speechless on all your details on the engine !
gatorincebu Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 like wow Man ! That detailing is awesome ! Be Well Gator
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Very cool project. This should wind up being a real beauty. But you really should have filled that huge sink mark on the manifold.
Dieselhead Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Very cool project. This should wind up being a real beauty. But you really should have filled that huge sink mark on the manifold.Weight savings, makes it go faster.Seriously though, looks awesome. Love the NHC-250 (I'm assuming, could be a NTC-350) in there.
Superpeterbilt Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Very cool project. This should wind up being a real beauty. But you really should have filled that huge sink mark on the manifold. The only problem with filling that, is then all of the cast iron "texture" will be sanded off. I know there are way to replicate it, but that probably why it wasnt filled.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Thanks for all of the comments guys! Very cool project. This should wind up being a real beauty. But you really should have filled that huge sink mark on the manifold. Thanks Harry, I'm still learning and hind sight is 20/20. Glad to see you back. I'm sure that wont be my last "OOPS" on this project. Most of that area of the manifold will be covered by the shifter assembly when it is finished. The shifter assembly mounted to the engine in these trucks.
Tesla Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I certainly agree with everyone about your details...very impressive!! What an awesome build.
guitarsam326 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Loking good Brian! What rear tires are those?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Thanks Dennis! Thanks Sam! Those rear tires are solid resin from Kit Form Services. They were cast with European type Budd wheels, but I drilled them out for the spoke replacements. The only problem with them is the area between the duals is not deep enough. I liked the tread though and I picked them up pretty cheap. The front are solids from KFS as well.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Okay, shifter bracket fabricated and installed. IMG_1858 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
purepmd Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Outstanding work Brian, truly. My tastes run toward the glamor queens, but you cannot help but love this work horse beauty. It is just so well done!

But I digress. Great work on the truck. I love the little details - like the napa logos on the filters not being lined up the same so they look like they were screwed on by hand. Great work. Superpeterbilt Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Wow Brian, that looks amazing. Just the filter decals added a lot.
gatorincebu Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I like this one a lot! Looking real goos about now . Be Well Gator
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Thanks for all the comments guys!!! I worked on opening up the lower grill and making an upper grill. i also finished the shifter assembly. IMG_1860 by Brian Smith, on Flickr IMG_1861 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
cowboy rich Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 This is looking really good, as always, I really like it but don't know I could build it.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Thanks Rich, but you would probably do a better job than me. I worked on the air breather (wall furnace style) and filter assemblies today. IMG_1862 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
landman Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 This is one of the most fascinating builds I have ever seen. Which nuts did you use on the oil filter bracket?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 This is one of the most fascinating builds I have ever seen. Which nuts did you use on the oil filter bracket? They're from Meng. I think that they scale out at about 3/4".
