Ok, I've been asked if I can / would I do a Nomad series of kits for a friend of mine.

Primarily the tri 5 cars - 55 to 57 years preferred ( I cant think of any other produced in stryene ) I know of some later model year wagons but no other  Nomads,,,or are there ?

What's currently avail, I have an AMT  55,,,,and  I see there is a 56. Is the multi-piece opening door revell kit the only option for a 57  - they must all be 1/25th scale or he's not interested.

I did an Ebay search for Nomads and it came back with all kinds of hit's,,,but I'm not positive which ones are readily avail

All of those three years you mentioned Bill are available in some form or fashion. The '55's been around forever as well as the troublesome '57. I'd say the nicest of all would be the '56 from Revell, which is a much newer tool.

Just to add further-----in 1/25 the '57 is the only one I can think of from Revell. Monogram did one in 1/24, but that one never looked right to me. It's not in the right scale anyway, so it's a moot point.

I've got a resin 57 that is clearly based on an AMT, it's decent for what it is. I forget who did it, they did 73 Cutlass too.

I'd take a curbside/snap that would be bashable with the 56.

I can hardly wait for the AMT 1/16 Nomad to be reissued ! Is that a scale that would interest you?

I'm waiting for that, too. There will be a lot of angry people selling on eBay when that happens. :D

The '57 from Revell is the only 1/25 scale one that has ever been produced in that scale in plastic. You might get a really nice '57 by using the body of the early Revell one and to make it look right just build it with the doors shut, then use the chassis and running gear from the '56 Nomad kit, but you need to either use headers or the exhaust manifolds and header pipes from one of the.'57 kits, the ones from the early kit are right, but '56 used different manifolds.

Also the only real desirable Nomads built by Chevrolet were the tri five's they did produce wagons after that with the Nomad name but they weren't the sporty short  two door versions, even the two door wagon that was produced didn't have the style and performance looks of the tri five's and doubt if that's what your friend is looking for.

I second (or third) that motion for any and all of the AMT 1/16 scale kits to be reissued.

Those are from Scale Equipment Limited.

Uh!  I don't recollect any 57 Nomad from Revell in 1/25.  Only the Monogram 57 Nomad.  There is the AMT 55 with which you cold put a Revell 56 Nomad Chassis under it with a little work.  It has an opening hatch.  There is the Revell 56 Nomad which is very nice, but no opening hatch.  And there is the problematic 57 Nomad from Monogram in 1/24.

You forgot the old Revell '57 Nomad with the opening doors, I think the last time it was reissued under the Skips or Hot Rod packaging.

So my only option for a 1/25th scale 1957 is the issue laden Revell kit ?

I already have a 55 for myself so I knew what its like. I think the 56 is a discontinued piece, same for the Revell kit ? which means the secondary market for both

If so I will let him know

I wish amt would reissue the 1/16th '57 Nomad.

Mike, I have that kit and one thing that needs to be corrected is the 210 trim on the tops of the quarter's. The correct Bel Air trim extends further forward than the trim molded on this kit body.
