Psychographic Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Love your version of DBB! Now ask your buddy in the club, if he wants to race. I think I got some competition for him.
disconovaman Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 ACME (Agusta County Model Enthusiasts) has an honorary member! I Can't wait to see this finished, great work so far Dave!
disconovaman Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 I'm back from the club meeting and I have pics. Three members were no shows so it wasn't as big as I'd hoped for. But the rest of the guys came through. I kinda thought there would be some progress stages and some finished ones and that's pretty much what it was.
Foxer Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Looks like fun coming in your contest! That "Seabed" Turquoise paint you di dis spectacular! It just looks so natural
disconovaman Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Thanks! my entry was one of two that was completed. Since some of the projects were unfinished we collectively have desided to revisit the challange agian at a later time... Which I have picked up 2 more kits for the future "Der Beetle Bus challange part 2". lol!
disconovaman Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 One of our members didn't have a chance to build the one he had in mind but he did offer this rendering of the build he was planning. I like it and hopefully he'll find time to build this before I do. If he doesn't build it I will...lol!
disconovaman Posted August 29, 2016 Author Posted August 29, 2016 Here are the most complete builds from the challange and when we do another club meeting with the Der Beetle Bus I'll be sure to add the rest of the finished projects for everyone to see. Thanks for the Support.... Also for anyone building one of these feel free to add it here if you want.
mustang1989 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Great ideas going on here. I ended up going to HL and buying one of these kits because of this thread. lol
Intmd8r Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Nice! Some real creative interpretations of this kit here
Chuck Most Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 That's funny after you commented on the wheelie bars I was mocking it up and I didn't have the front wheels on and when I let go of it the thing stood up on it's back wheels! The weight of the front wheels are what's literally keeping it on the ground. Yeah, you're right about a good head wind Lol! Beetle Busses should not be doing that on the carpet- has it had it's yearly medication? I am seriously digging this project.
disconovaman Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Beetle Busses should not be doing that on the carpet- has it had it's yearly medication? I am seriously digging this project. I see we have another bettle bus builder ready to take on the challange, thanks for the compliments! Now get goin so we can compliment your project! Lol!
disconovaman Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 One of the club members sent me this pic as he was unable to attend the meeting last month, a quick rough draft of his final reveil.
crazyrichard Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 i like it best wen the front wheel wells are closed up , with the old wheel well and just exhausts it kinda visually bumps my head lol
OldNYJim Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Great ideas going on here. I ended up going to HL and buying one of these kits because of this thread. lol Me too

Davewilly Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Those are pretty cool...I like the one with the tank tracks!
bob29579 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Really great stuff. I would not have even given this kit a second thought back when they came out, now I kind of want one... Heavy sigh. One more for the stash, right ?
cobraman Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Cool ! No limit to what you can do with these kits.
