plastic-mechanic Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 you don't have to quote more than a few key thoughts or pictures. leaves more room in your reply for happy faces.

Draggon Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 The thing that bothers me even more is when one, or multiple persons, include all of the pictures plus the text they are quoting. I mean, people do realize that they can remove pics from a quote, right? That's a joke, of course they don't.
Roadrunner Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) This happens on sites all across the web. I suspect you'll never completely change human behavior, no matter how many times it's suggested that they should not do it, unless it's specifically germane to their response. 1930fordpickup Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Glenn I had no idea you could remove the pictures. I will have to try.
MrObsessive Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I try to remove as much of the quote as I can-----especially if I want to zero in on a key point. It's also another reason I like the HTML code word tagging to use as links. Copying and pasting URL's (eBay's are the worst) suck up space and can shift the board around for me on my end if they're woefully long, especially if I'm looking at a post on my phone. It's one of the nice things on this board that you can use the link function to "key" a word to use for a link, than copying and pasting a URL that is five miles long.

1930fordpickup Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Thanks Kevin. What Bill just typed to this guy is over my head.
Roadrunner Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I believe he's referring to using a word or phrase to insert a hyperlink, rather than the text of the hyperlink itself, like this, as opposed to this: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/115781-going-overboard-with-post-quoting/?do=findComment&comment=1673607

That bugs me more than anything when someone will post an ungodly long URL rather than hyperlinking just the word like you did above. Yeah I know everyone's not 'puter savvy, but one has to learn to use the tech that's out there and not be afraid to use what's available.
Roadrunner Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I agree, Bill, but not everyone even knows the right questions to ask. I was somewhat embarrassed to ask similar questions a few years ago, but it was the only way for me to learn what I wanted to know.

Roadrunner Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Find the link you want to copy, copy it, type in an appropriate phrase like this or here, highlight it, then using the link button above (the one that looks like a chain), just past the link into the appropriate box space. There are other ways, but this is the easiest I've found.

Since there is no preview available like before i dont dare to experiment.

I may have overlooked any of our previous entries, I'll search again to see if I can find anything.
