junkyardjeff Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I do not know if it was a kit or just a old dime store toy,it has a electric motor and is made of plastic. No manufacture marks at all.
Snake45 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I've seen those in blister packs, and I believe I've seen ads for them in 1050s model airplane magazines (or maybe it was very early '60s). They might have been Hawk, or Strombecker, or some other maker, I don't remember.
Mark Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 It might be a Strombecker or Hawk kit. I'm pretty certain one or both of those companies made go-kart kits at the height of their popularity in the early Sixties.
junkyardjeff Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 It was in a box with built airplanes and a warped 60 Falcon promo.
1930fordpickup Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Jeff I have seen parts on Ebay but not a complete one before. I think I have a seat here someplace. Just not sure who made this one.
keyser Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Strombecker I'm pretty sure. Pic was on my Scarab and DBR-1 boxes with an MGA and it. Here's quick google pic.Nice find, Bigger than 1/24 I'm guessing?
junkyardjeff Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Its definately bigger then 1.24,I have no idea on what I am going to do with it since its out of scale with any models I have. Its just out of a over 50 year storage. Edited September 17, 2016 by junkyardjeff added more words
ChrisBcritter Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 (edited) I've got one as well; picked it up for a buck or two at a flea market years ago: If I had to guess at the scale, I'd say maybe 1/12? Wheelbase is 4 5/8"; rims are 3/4" diameter. And I don't think mine ever had an electric motor. Edited September 18, 2016 by ChrisBcritter
Phirewriter Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I've got a Hawk go kart, very similar in design but has slightly fatter slick tires. That orange kart is neat, I've never seen one with a replica motor. The few kart models I've seen all had electric motors of some kind. If the Hawk mold exists Rd2 might have access to it, would be neat to see it out again.
junkyardjeff Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 Looking through ebay last night I found a Hawk and the remains of one like mine.
