Hi, I just finished this box stock version of the Lincoln Futura reissue. Kind of a neat and nostalgic kit. I think I'm hooked on the early Monogram kits, especially the '30, '34 and '36 Fords. The Futura is a quick build with pretty good fit, but it could benefit from a scratch built antenna and some rechromed side trim.

It's almost shocking to see a completion from you that's not bursting with color. As usual though, another beautiful job well done. :P

Now that's something ya don't see everyday....

very nice work!!

Speaking of old Monogram kits, how cool would it be to see the '30, '34, '36 Fords, the '40 Ford Pickup, the "Little Deuce" '32, ect with all the original/optional parts??

OOOOOhhh I like it!! It is just soooooo.............Fifties!! :D

Beautiful '50's color too!!

Amazing how carmakers back than had such a vision of what the future of the car might be. I would like to see fins return on cars (not that wild though).............I REALLY would love to see the return of the 4dr hardtop! That was a '50's idea that had all but disappeared by the '70's! :D

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

KHart, you asked about the color. I shot Tamiya pure white spray over Tamiya pearl light blue spray. I wasn't able to find out much about the original color, except that it was an off white pearl with a little blue tint. I think Ford called it 'ice blue pearl', or something like that.

Here's one of the better photos I found:

Ken, you are correct. For 1959's "It Started with a Kiss", starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford, the Futura was painted red, to show up better on the screen.

Tom, that is a great build. I always dislike the "bad mayonnaise green" you see on this car too often. A pearl blue-white like stars in the sky is much closer to what the Futura was meant to evoke. Now I need to work on mine.

Here's a view not often seen

and a B&W of it in red, plus a sad pic of it @ Barris' in Hollywood.

Very cool! I built one of them a long time ago...Only paint I used was on the figures...Came out terrible...It's in my Fotki if anyone cares to look....I don't want to drag down this thread with my build photo...
