Wow!  What a game!   What a team!  In fact, BOTH teams were great!

But, glad to see the Cubbies finally pulled it off!!

Congrats, Chicagoland!  B)

You're right Danno as both teams were great, as it was a nail bitter and the game could've gone either way. Both teams wanted to win and played like it. Baseball at its best? I suppose some historians could argue that. I myself don't really keep stats. To me there are only three stats worth noting, the wins, the loses, and how much money was made at the gate.

Now the Sox, the Bulls, the Hawks, the Bears, and finally the Cubs have all won championships in my lifetime. It's about freakin' time, Cubs! :D

Watch out for those LIONS.

49 years and still rebuilding....................I am 72 years old..................my time is running out..................hope they step it up soon:D

I'm watching the live coverage on TV. Unbelievable crowds. It looks like everyone in Chicago is out celebrating!

I'm sure that many of the people are from neighboring suburbs, and I would tend to think that there are a lot of out of town people there also.

Congrats to the Cubs!

Harry, you are lucky!  I am from Michigan and  I am 51 years old.   I have seen the Tigers win two World Series in my lifetime.  I watched the Pistons win Three championships.   I have watched the Red Wing win four Stanley Cups... and I have watched the Lions win....  One playoff game!

Official Chicago PD crowd estimate for today's Cubs rally downtown: FIVE MILLION people.

That's a lotta Cubs fans! I had the best seat in the house... I watched it all on TV! :D

Awesome for youse guyz.  Glad I got to see the series, THE WIN, and the celebrations!   Happy for you.

And, for awhile, most people of the world are Cubby fans.  (Your mileage in Ohio may vary.)

That's generally been my philosophy when I lived in L.A. for things like the Rose Parade and the 1992 riots.

With all the people who lined the streets for the parade and crowded into Grant Park for the rally, CPD says there were only six arrests... six... and one of those for "unlawful use of a drone"...

Unlike some other cities, where they "celebrate" championships by looting stores, setting fires, and flipping over cop cars, the people here were well-behaved. Way to go, Chicago! :)

Congrats to you Chicago fans, that must have been an exciting series.  One like this is really tough for the other team, but you Cubs fans know this too well.

I have a question though, we never get any MLB in old Europe.  Why are the uniform pants legs so long?  To me they looked like some kind of jogging sweat pants.

Is this a National League thing?  Tradition?  Just more modern times?

I prefer baseball, I do not like football.  Never have.

It's personal preference. Some players still wear the traditional "to the knees" pants with stirrup socks, some wear the full-length pants with no socks showing. Sometimes it happens with players on the same team! Apparently MLB doesn't enforce its own rules, which state that every player on a team must wear the same identical uniform.

By the way, several of the Cubs players will be on Saturday Night Live tonight. They haven't said who, but my guess is David Ross, Anthony Rizzo, and Kris Bryant. Just a hunch.

I really wish I'd seen that last game.   :D

Well it's in the history books now, however maybe you could search on the computer and the game has been recorded either on the computer or your local TV station, no?

You're probably right, but knowing the outcome would kindof take the edge off, you know? Seems like it was a real nail-biter, and even though I'm not a particular fan of either team, watching something that close would have been great theater, for sure.  :D

You're right about that as I was discussing the game with someone else a few days ago, and it seemed a lot like reading a novel or seeing a movie. And as mentioned before, the game could've gone either way as it was very exciting.

Harry,

You are so right! A friend of mine was at the celebration and he said there were a TON of young school age kids there, probably a reason for the large crowd and hopefully the lack of mischief !

I had already moved away when the Sox last won the WS, how do the two celebrations compare? (Arrests, crowd size, looting, etc)

If you can believe the crowd estimates, the Sox rally drew 1.75 million, the Cubs drew 5 million. But there are sources that say it's impossible that there were 5 million at the Cubs rally... but even so, the Cubs drew a lot more people than the Sox did. Don't know about arrests at the Sox rally, but there was no looting.
