espo Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I like the side moldings, that cleans up the side a lot. The Edsel tail light where a very popular. The grill seems a little over done, but it may look a little smaller when you're done. What kit did it come from ? Does the paint have ghost flames? What are you thinking for the roof color ?

What are you thinking for the roof color ? thanks, the secondary color on the roof is a Gold. The front fascia & tail lights are from the Original AMT 57 Ford kit, and the grill opening has a 57 Desoto style bumper that fits across it. Yes there are Ghost flames on the hood, and down the sides, below the chrome trim.
cobraman Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I like it a lot. The front end looks a little "heavy" to me but overall I think it's pretty cool.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 18, 2016 Author Posted November 18, 2016 Thank You. I started in the BMF this afternoon, then More Clear, more Polishing !! LOL!! I hope to have it finished before the end of the year.
DumpyDan Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 This looks great, I love that you used a wagon, very unusual
BIGTRUCK Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Thats sharp and I love customs. Great work on that wagon.
David G. Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Looks good so far, love the steering wheel.David G.
espo Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 With the front bumper it may make the grill opening look smaller.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 18, 2016 Author Posted November 18, 2016 Thanks Everyone, I got the kit the day it came out in Aug, 2015, I rushed down to the Hobby Store and stood in line to get it. As I started opening it I was looking at everyone else's Wagons. I said to myself "I don't Want mine to look anything like everyone else's." so the wheels started turning!! No one has said much about the fins on it, LOL I had to raise them up to match the new Edsel styled tail lights. Any How I just finished up the BMF today, now for a few more coats of clear, let it cure for a few day and then I'll start wet sanding & polishing. I still have some work to do on the front bumper black out the grill area. Jeez i wish we could just upload the pictures here !! BTW , This only my second Custom like this I've ever built. It just took me 40+ years of building to try it LOL!! Thanks for looking, & enjoy.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 Here's where I'm at as of Now. Yesterday I shot 3 coat of Metallic clear on it, after it dried out, I started the BMF. Today I finished up the BMF, & Mocked it up for this Photo Shoot.
PARTSMARTY Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Very cool-absolutely love the ghost flames !!!
JerseyRed Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Very nice paint work. What are the details? Colors, types, etc. I'm working on the '57 Ford Wagon gasser now, and I wanted a color closer to your gold. I ended up going with a Bronze lacquer spray can. I bought an airbrush since then and I'm trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. It gets frustrating, but a lot of it is probably just getting the experience.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Thanks PartsMarty, & JerseyRed. Well the colors ; The base Orange Metallic is a Finger Nail Polish. We painted the nose area, and the Ghost Flames with a Acrylic Opaque White. Then used a Acrylic Yellow Pearl, thinned extra thin, so it is very translucent. we shot that over all the Orange Metallic. Then I shot 3 coats of High gloss Enamel, and let dry. then I taped it up, & shot the Gold, which is also Finger Nail Polish. Then I shot 3 coats of High Gloss Clear enamel with heavy Metallic in it, over the whole car. Then the BMF. Now I will water sand with 2,000 grit and shoot 2 or 3 more coats of High Gloss Clear Enamel. after all that cures out for a week or two it will git Polished out.
