To me finishing is highly overrated.  Although getting a couple in paint and on all fours would be a good reason for purchasing a new display cabinet.

:D  What's a "display cabinet"?  All I have experience with is "workbench" and "storage for in-progress projects".

Got a little closer on this baby too.

The bodywork fairy came by and finished up roughing in the LF wheel arch mod...

So I made a transfer template so the other side would match...

Moving along nicely.

That's when I realized the '62 doesn't have chrome around the front wheel openings, but does have a molded-in bead that's pretty obvious. A little .030" half-round should get it. Nobody ever would have noticed, especially 'cause this is supposed to be a clone body anyway, but hey...I'm a glutton for punishment.

Mr. Engwer

This is a most diverse and challenging build.

I am very interested in this work, your attention to detail on this project has been outstanding to say the least.

I am also in line with Your, "this is how it should be , but, I am happy with the way it looks," mantra on building.

I am not down-playing the professionalism, detailing, and craftsmanship/draftsmanship, that has and is, going into this build.

Simply put, It is Your build, build it for You view, that I am with.

Hope that I have not read to much into or implied.

Sorry for digressing

I really am enjoying this build and have learn a lot of build technique for future builds

Thank You for sharing with Us here

...but any progress on this one?

I really appreciate your interest and wish I could show some progress, but it's exactly the way it was in my last photo post.

I'm spending every minute I can finishing up two real-car builds here, and getting packed and ready to move the rest of my stuff to Az. ASAP.

Every now and then when it looks like I might steal a little bench time, something real-world comes up.

Maybe by Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the update Bill. I am more than familiar with how life can prevent us from paying attention to our hobbies.

Hope the move goes smoothly. I'm heading to Yuma in a few days with the fam for vacation. i enjoy Arizona

Very impressive work. Did you ever complete this car?

Thanks. It's still in the "in progress" pile, needs some minor bodywork prior to paint, and a little more chassis work.

Wow that’s a lot of work on this but the outcome will be worth it. Hope to see you get this one done.

She'll be one of the first ones to get done when I have more time. Thanks for your interest.

Glad to hear you are still working on it. I have two unbuilt AMT 1962 kits (including the Boyd Coddington version). I was always annoyed by the small headlights.

Yeah, it's annoying. But I don't buy the "60 year old tooling" bit, as there are plenty of 60 year old tools that are dimensionally very accurate. It's just inept, sloppy work, which happened back then, and still happens today.

The AMT '59 Corvette, reboxed as a '60, is better but still not right (and furnished the clip I used on this build, acceptable because the thing's a drag car with a modded body and faired in headlights).

It's also a mystery why the "Sock it to Me" nose is different from the '59/ '60 nose as well, because in reality the front body tooling for all the early 4-eyed Corvettes is identical (other than relatively minor details).

Poor measuring and scaling, lack of familiarity with the subject, poor decision making from management, etc.

It's nice that we have the Revell version to build a more accurate model from.

As always Bill, I stumble down the rabbit hole of one of your old builds and find myself learning more kewl tips n trix. But this one makes my top 5 of builds I’d like to see completed, your 32 builds are the top of the list though. I’m possibly a month or more away from having a bench again. ☹️ so I live vicariously through the boards.

Thanks for your interest and comments, as always.

My local club I almost never attend, ACME, has a big show coming up at the end of October, so I might try to finish something...at least enough to show a decent in-progress piece...in time.

The Olds-powered wedge-channeled '32 is the closest, and it's just possible I can get the orange metalflake on this Corvette by then too.

I'm sure this will be the last fall for me here, so...we'll see how motivated I get.   :D
