Another one that I didn't know existed Mike!

I believe the only '69 Cobra I have seen is the AMT fast back version.

Very cool & I wouldn't mind having one myself!

Steve

It's a nice kit, buildable as a convertible or a hardtop. The top needs some work to be accurate, but it's not too bad. I'd like to see what you could do with one.

3 pretty  tough ones to find.

MPC  1970 Dodge Charger - built  to replicate a good friends actual

MPC 1968 Coronet RT convertible. I built it to replicate a good friends actual car. ( same guy owned both )

and an MPC 1971 Duster .

Not sure how rare this kit really is but definitely my rarest.

Mpc Lotus STP Indy Turbine car produced in 1995. I believe it was raced in 1968 and banned after that.

JoHan 59 Olds flat top

It was a crusty glue bomb when I got it.

I have an AMT 58 Ford but it is in  "as found" condition so I would take that as unfinished. I'll be restoring it soon, like I did this one.

I would have to say this is the rarest I have built. Given to me buy Richard Manson as a Christmas present . I know some wont like the wheels but I did keep the originals safe so if I do decide to build it stock one day I can

I have a ton of rare old kits,  rebuildable junkers and resin.  But what have I had the most fun building?  Cheap and current kits!   There's a lesson in there somewhere. And kits I built 25-30 years ago have been constantly reissued so nothing to ooh and ahh about there!

MVC-018S

MVC-019S

This is an original 1961 Ranchero kit,  restored from a junker. Most of the trim had been sanded off and it had no front bumper / grill piece. I had a really bad 1960 Falcon promo so that gave up the bumper / grill.  I had a 1960 Ranchero long before Round 2 produced one. The body was a mess from play wear. Drip rails were broken off and one quarter was missing a chunk.  The kit was rare enough back when I redid this one to put in that effort.  You can spot the originals because the hood doesn't open and the chassis has the bottom of the engine, and a single exhaust molded in.  Note the tail lights were two part, chrome rings with real red clear centers.  The later kits had a one piece chrome unit.

I built this using the original MPC kit, paid 3-figures for it.  Of course the kit was re-issued a few months after I completed it.

Good one JC!

The stock version of this kit is extremely rare!

I wish they would have re-released it in stock configuration.

I'd love to have one!

The 65 Cadillac i think is the rarest i finished so far.

Nice Tommy!!

You know, there are a lot of these Johan Cadillacs that are very rare!

The '61 & '62 Come to mind, but I think the later ones are every bit as hard to find.

Ok, For me that I have personally built/rebuilt is probably a toss up between my 59 Edsel  - 60 Continental and maybe my Clear bodied cuda funny car.

I know the Lincoln and Edsel are not the hardest to find, but they don't exactly grown on trees either,,I have rarer to find kits,,,just not that I've personally built.

Although I haven't  exactly been looking for one ,,,,but I've yet to see another clear bodied Cuda since I bought this one new. I do know I've never seen another one that's built.

Great stuff Bill!

The Edsel & Lincoln may not be super rare, But this isn't a contest to see who has the rarest build, just which is your rarest gem.

I know nothing of the Barracuda.

Maybe someone else will chime in to let us know how rare it is.

Although it doesn't have 4 wheels I believe this qualifies as a rare, built kit.

The Tom Daniels kit Devil Chopper. Originally from 1971 and I don't believe it was ever re-issued. I paid $100 for it at a show and within a few minutes other people were trying to buy from me for double what I paid.

The wheel count doesn't matter Adam.

Just as long as it's a kit you built.

& you did it justice!

Great stuff Al!

I especially like the Ford truck!

The early Ford pickups are not terribly hard to find it seems, but they certainly fit into the "rare" category!

And I love 'em!

Beautiful Bill!

I can attest to how rare the '68 Coronet is having just purchased one!

Is the '71 Duster rare?

I guess I don't know.

I'm assuming yours is an original annual & not the AMT tool.

I really don't know a lot about them.

I get goose bumps & a little light headed every time I see your '59 Ron!

The paint job is immaculate!

I have a very nice one of these in my stash.

In case you were wondering, it will be built stock! :D

You're right Dave, I don't like the wheels! :D

But what type of wheels you use is not pertinent to this thread.

The '59 Lincolns seem to be getting harder to find all of the time.

Mine might be the Johan 64 Dodge Ramchargers kit. I built it back when it was new, it's still in great shape ( except that the headers have fallen off ) and I even have some of the funny car parts left.

The box:

And the built model, I was about 14 at the time, I used to love to hand letter things.

If it were at all possible for this kit to make a comeback, I'd be good for a dozen right now.

So would I.  I have been buying up built ups and unbuilt when Imcan.  I have real one at home.

I guess an original MPC '68 Charger would be considered rare these days.

And their Firebird, too.

How about an original first-issue JoHan Maverick promo (molded in Antiestablish Mint Green) that received a Model-Fu beatdown from a rabid 15-year old?

its the real deal original metal axle 1971 annual.  Just has a modern tooled 340 in it.

not as difficult as a 68 coronet kit persay.

But not super easy either. And the modern amt tool kit didnt hurt there value one bit
